Time for video refs, even in slow motion with lots of replays it can be hard to tell if a card is a card or a pen is a pen. I think for critical decisions like red cards and pens the ref should be able to refer to a video ref.

Goal line technology proves the game is better with technology.

Have reffed in Cyprus, all over UK and Germany and abuse never got to me but moaning players did. Appealing against decisions from 20/30 yards away. But that was in the time before falling over on contact was compulsory. In my day a player was always advised to avoid hard fair tackles by jumping out of the way if they were going to get hit.

Not to me it doesn't. I have always maintained, the controversy that comes with it, the talking points it makes, is part and parcel of football.

I honestly think that Friend has been beat up by Sunderland fans in the past, because he has never gave us the lickings of a dog when he refs our games..

Roger East sent him off against Man Utd, when he done nothing and it should have been O'Shea instead... says google

My feelings are summed up in this one paragraph.

Wes Brown’s tackle on Adam looked firm but it was also clean and fair. Referee Kevin Friend has created enough controversy this season already after refusing to grant Villa a penalty at Chelsea after John Terry handled, and awarded Southampton a contentious late penalty at West Brom.

It's not just us that referees **** up with, he could quite easily do Bournemouth over with a stupid decision.
