I think he has got there primarily on talent, remember Spa he put his Reanult ahead of Fernado Alonso of all people! He has made some mistakes which were to be expected as a rookie but his raw pace is there, unlike Maldonado who has been pretty awful so far, he may prove me wrong though! Lets wait and see, everyone said that Petrov and Senna wouldnt work but it worked fine probably because Senna is older and more mature so hence everyone who is saying that its silly putting two rookies in the same car are frankly the silly ones themselves

I must say Rubens deserves some sympathy solely because de la Rosa is on the grid despite having shown literally no reason to still be there.

Yes, he's on the grid but at HRT.
I'm sure Rubens would be guarented a HRT seat if he wanted to go there but he said that would be a step back according to him.
Rubens should wake up and smell the coffee, it's either HRT or the scrap heap, I'd rather see a young charger in the 2nd seat, I thought it might be Alguersuari but he seems to have turned it down and step out of F1, which, at 21, has to be seen as a smart move, It didn't hurt Grosjean much. As to De La Rosa, smarter move than most think, known as a developer he could help straighten out the car into something that could start to challenge the midfield. Then again it could end up the piece of **** it has been for 2 seasons, personally I hope it succeeds, as it was created as someones dream to go F1 racing.

You are quite right about Pedro de la Rosa's ability to help development, Miggs. Also, we should remember that HRT have decided to relocate to Spain, which coincides with new sponsorship and possible help from the Spanish Government (direct or indirect).
Any driver in with a shout will tend to hold out until the best options evaporate before looking to tail-end-charlies for employment, but with Senna getting the Williams seat, Barrichello would appear to have had no other option if he really intends to stay. (Personally, I believe he still has the passion and commitment to be rather useful to a team at the back of the grid).
If you're not good enough to ritually humiliate the Maldonado we saw last year, you're not good enough to be in F1.

Zero talent does not outqualify Alonso at Spa in wet conditions in a slower car being driven in anger for the first time.
But we all know he got the drive because of his financial clout. I would have picked Sutil, legal issues or not.
I am sure it helped but it was not the only reason. Plus Sutil brings a lot of money as well, do does Alguersuari and they did not get the drive, also they already have Maldonado.
Does Alguersuari have much financial backing now Red Bull have dropped him? I'm sure a fair bit of money would have been tied to that.
I think so. His Dad is a multi-millionaire and is well connected and hss been backing him financially in F1. He also helped set up the Renault World Series Championship which he now owns.
