Mate, **** this. I'm starting a new CAT case as that is the most anti competitive thing I've heard in my life.
He can of course accept a settlement and I believe that is what the hold up is. He wants more money. Simple as!

He is legally entitled to the opportunity of achieving mathematical survival and the minute it’s not mathematically possible then he breaches his contract terms. Then he can be sacked.

That’s the protection Ashley wanted and proves he only ever wanted premiership survival.

But why wouldn’t it be rolling one year with options? Honestly, haunted by Ashley’s unfathomable stupidity even after he’s gone.

I mean eventually it’s all going to be irrelevant and it just takes a bit of shine off. I’m probably most perplexed by the fact they don’t appear to have even the semblance of a plan right now. Obviously that’s not true, but that nobody is prepared is a touch worrying. When Mansour swooped in, there was an immediacy of the impact that we haven’t quite seen here apart from a flurry of photo opportunities and a couple of interviews.
The three year thing is just so Bruce gets three years salary. Nothing more.

Any and all press speculation. Including Steve Bruce, his contract, players wanted, DOF wanted and Managers wanted are at this point opinion pieces. Not facts and not news.
On 17 July 2019, Newcastle United officially announced (see below), Steve Bruce had agreed an ‘initial three year contract’ to be NUFC Head Coach.

So if there has been no new contract agreed these past two years and there has been no talks this summer about a new deal, how come Steve Bruce is not set to leave St James Park next summer after his three years?

Well, Bruce’s friend and big media ally Luke Edwards looks to have the inside track.

Responding to the contract debate, the man from The Telegraph explained via his Twitter account that his understanding is…

That when Steve Bruce agreed his ‘initial three year’ deal, it wasn’t just a straightforward three year contract.

Instead, Edwards revealed that his understanding is that a three year deal was agreed BUT that after the end of each season, another year is automatically added on. So in effect, Steve Bruce never has less than a two year contract and that as of 17 July 2021, Bruce was once again back on a three year contract.

I can't believe your swallowing this **** mate. If that clause existed it would be reported everywhere. You normally come across as well educated. If that clause existed no way would poor ****ing Keith Downie have been stood outside the training ground like a voyeur all week.

That's spot on, it renews every year so it's always 3 years. Hahaha

You think what you want mate: I believe it and I’ve seen contracts like this in my career. It’s for protection for both parties.

It may not be word for word accurate but I kid you not it won’t be far off.

A contract is legally binding.

It makes no odds, money talks and I think Bruce is just digging his heals in. For a nice big pay off.

It doesn’t protect Ashley though because if we were 30 games deep and 6 points from safety Ashley would want to pull the trigger but this clause would not allow him to do that

This is exactly what I'm saying. No way Ashley has this in the contract. No ****ing chance. What if Steve was found guilty of Adam Johnson behaviour - we cant sack him due to still being in the prem? Bollox.

That’s a breach of contract. Anyways I’m not having this bullying mentality directed at me anyone doing so can go and **** themselves.

Im just saying what I have read and understand about contract law and if you don’t like it I couldn’t give a ****.

I don't like it, don't want to like it, won't like it, can't like it and shan't like it.

I'm only stating what I believe to be common sense so there :emoticon-0109-kiss:
