Fascinating history of of hard won successes after difficult beginnings in life. The more I hear about the man, the more my admiration increases. And an excellently written piece - but then I'd expect that of son of Brix. Thanks, Deon.

WOW..that was emotional....!
it took me 3 sentences to realise I was reading from someone related to Brix. What a massive credit to your father you are D. We have never met, neither have your father and I, but it felt as if I was reading the great man again.

as for his history & upbringing. I struggle to comprehend how someone with such a hard upbringing could be so open, reserved and friendly to so many people..I am truly taken aback.

I honestly feel like I have lost a friend..is that even possible? of someone you've never met?.i don't know but what I do know is that I genuinely feel down about this! (obviously no-where near the familys grief)

anyway..appologies to all, but I raised a (unofficial) glass to Brix this afternoon.

My condolences to the family and I will donate to Bernardo's accordingly.

Im kind of stuck for what to say so I'm gonna go. I miss my friend !!

BrixtonR appears to epitomise someone who never blamed their past, he used it to better himself and those around him. It is a path that many people with his upbringing would have failed to take, good on the man.
