Match Preview;
To reiterate, there are train strikes. Don't rock up at Paddington hoping to get on a train.
In February 2021 Nigel Pearson took over at Bristol City after they had lost six games in a row under previous boss, Dean Holden. Pearson managed to get them to a 17th place finish, in no small part thanks to 22 goals from Andreas Wisemann. This form hasn't continued in quite the same way this year, as he has 4 goals so far. Their top scorer is Tommy Conway, with 7, followed by former R Nahki Wells, with 5. A look through their squad and they don't have any superstar players that I am very familiar with, but looks like a good group of young players who confused the photo shoot for the club website with a photo shoot for a teen magazine...https://www.bcfc.co.uk/teams/mens-first-team/
They have, so far, won four, drawn two and lost four, so sit one point and three places behind us, in 9th with 14 points. As for us, the international break is over. Hopefully this hasn't only been an opportunity for Lyndon Dykes to pick up an illness (please lets not allow him to come back and spread it amongst our squad), but also a chance for a some of the other players to have a bit of extra time on the training field with Beale. His training has been highly spoken of by those he has worked with, so I'm hoping we will continue to see the fruit of that on the field.
Team News
QPR: Jake Clarke-Salter and Luke Amos are ready and available for selection following longer-term injuries - but the fixture comes too soon for Rob Dickie and Taylor Richards. Sinclair Armstrong (thigh) is also out.
Bristol City: Bristol City will be without Matty James and Timm Klose for the visit of QPR.
Pre-match Talk
Mick Beale (QPR head coach): “Nigel Pearson is a really good manager who has steadied the ship and got them (Bristol City) looking upwards. They seem to be in a good place. Their home form has been excellent so far this season and they have a good team.
“But we can take confidence from our performances on the road already this season. I think there’ll be goals and I’m really looking forward to the game. They’ll be looking for three points and we’ll be going for them as well.”
Nigel Pearson (Bristol City manager): “They’re (QPR) a good Championship side who will be there or thereabouts, and I’m sure will be involved in the promotion race.
“We know it will be a tough one but as I always try to point out, we are aware of what our opponents are about and know that if we can sustain our levels and show the drive that we have so far, we have a chance of winning any game.”
Enjoy those who are making the trip, and as always...
...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
