Don't rock up at Paddington hoping to get on a train. In February 2021 Nigel Pearson took over at Bristol City after they had lost six games in a row under previous boss, Dean Holden. Pearson managed to get them to a 17th place finish, in no small part thanks to 22 goals from Andreas Wisemann. This form hasn't continued in quite the same way this year, as he has 4 goals so far. Their top scorer is Tommy Conway, with 7, followed by former R Nahki Wells, with 5. A look through their squad and they don't have any superstar players that I am very familiar with, but looks like a good group of young players who confused the photo shoot for the club website with a photo shoot for a teen magazine...https://www.bcfc.co.uk/teams/mens-first-team/ They have, so far, won four, drawn two and lost four, so sit one point and three places behind us, in 9th with 14 points. As for us, the international break is over. Hopefully this hasn't only been an opportunity for Lyndon Dykes to pick up an illness (please lets not allow him to come back and spread it amongst our squad), but also a chance for a some of the other players to have a bit of extra time on the training field with Beale. His training has been highly spoken of by those he has worked with, so I'm hoping we will continue to see the fruit of that on the field. Team News QPR: Jake Clarke-Salter and Luke Amos are ready and available for selection following longer-term injuries - but the fixture comes too soon for Rob Dickie and Taylor Richards. Sinclair Armstrong (thigh) is also out. Bristol City: Bristol City will be without Matty James and Timm Klose for the visit of QPR. Pre-match Talk Mick Beale (QPR head coach): “Nigel Pearson is a really good manager who has steadied the ship and got them (Bristol City) looking upwards. They seem to be in a good place. Their home form has been excellent so far this season and they have a good team. “But we can take confidence from our performances on the road already this season. I think there’ll be goals and I’m really looking forward to the game. They’ll be looking for three points and we’ll be going for them as well.” Nigel Pearson (Bristol City manager): “They’re (QPR) a good Championship side who will be there or thereabouts, and I’m sure will be involved in the promotion race. “We know it will be a tough one but as I always try to point out, we are aware of what our opponents are about and know that if we can sustain our levels and show the drive that we have so far, we have a chance of winning any game.” Enjoy those who are making the trip, and as always... ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Afternoon guys -nice to get back to the hussle and bussle of the championship-both teams have had a rest unfortunately for us we have had players away on international duties. Should be a good open game with plenty of attacking play. Should be a decent crowd as well. may the best team win. I'm going 2.0 to the reds
We've had 8 away on international duties ! As always Dykes won't be fit , hopefully Chair will be available
As Hammersmith has said...we've had players away as have a lot of other Championship sides. A lot won't have played the full 90 in all the international games though, so they shouldn't come back too exhausted.
Wow eight we only had three key players away -eight that is impressive most of your first team I would guess.
Not necessarily, Nico is an international even though he's awful. Not much of a pool to draw on there though, but he won't be in our squad barring full back issues. Chair is the main concern as Morocco play either tonight or tomorrow in South America, so by the time he arrives back in England he'll be tired. Didn't play the other night at all so may well play in this game. Dykes has a virus apparently so it may well be Roberts up top again as he came on as sub for Wales.
Illias on the bench tonight and actually the game is being played in Seville at Real Betis's ground so travel not an issue........
The ex-players part always interests me, especially the number of games played. I would have thought Tommy Doherty (yes this one) and Gary O'Neill played loads more games than that. I even remember Aaron Brown so he obviously left a very bad impression in those 3 games!
Due to a combination of holiday and family commitments, this is the first game I'd considered going to since I was last at HQ on 20th Aug but now away again. Hoping for an Rs win but we'll have to overcome however many Wells inevitably scores!
He is fit will play Saturday however these three are on fire Tommy Conway and Nahki Wells and Antoine Semenyo banging the goals in.
To be fair Wells is the highest paid player at Ashton Gate and has struggled since his move from Burnley-however this season under Nigel Pearson he is a different player -he has his mojo back-Tommy Conway is dynamite at present as is Semenyo and of course Andy Weimann is playing well again.Your defence will do well to stop these four scoring.
Same with our two no 10’s who are fire at present, so you can get your red robin to go Bob Bob bobbing along & sod off on Saturday
