Another season comes to a close at the Valley and this season see's us take on already relegated Bristol City. Last weekend our playoff hopes ended when we drew 2-2 with Middlesbrough. We took a 2-0 through Pritchard and an own goal however we were pegged back by two late goals from Emnes and McDonald. Bristol City played at home and lost 3-1 to Huddersfield. Nyatanga scored the consolation for the robins. We beat Bristol city earlier in the season when we played at Ashton Gate. The score was 2-0 at the goals came from Haynes and Morrison.

We have had a great first season back in the Championship and now lets hope we end on a high and give ourselves something to build on for next season and hopefully push on to the playoffs next season. As suggested by others on a different thread its probably good for the youngsters if they play in their playoff matches so I've decided to leave them out of the squad if I can. We are unbeaten in 7 games taking 15 points from a possible 21. Bristol City have taken 2 points out of the last 21 available and haven't won in 8 games so it is no wonder they are where they are. I think we will win no disrespect to Bristol City but they are bottom of the league for a reason and with us being close to the playoff places and in great form we should definitely take all 3 points and as SuperChrissy said the difference in league position is 100k which could make all the difference to us.

... the difference in league position is 100k which could make all the difference to us.
Make "a" difference might be better wording. After all, what could we do with a mere 100,000 quid? Answer: buy four N'Guessans. Imagine that for a front four!

Why is wiggins the only one not to merit a capital letter? Is it because he is a bloody taffy? If so, you have my support. Mind you, "Pritchard" and "Gower" sound suspiciously Cambrian as well.

Thanks for all your efforts throughout the season. You can have a couple of months off now to concentrate on your academic studies, then get back here to continue your priority work.

Yeah, big thanks for the weekly match threads. I'm working when this kicks off, so I'll be following it on the trusty mobile. Last time we coincided an early start plus me working was Millwall, so I hope we get a better result today. The home fans deserve a good send off, as it's been a tough season for the Valley faithfull (I'll say nowt about being a Bristol City fan) but I believe our home wins total is the lowest in the championship.

Greatly appreciate your efforts this season, Belvedere - thanks very much. <ok>

Last game, ye gods, where did the time go?

Bristle aren't going out without a scrap today, so 1-0 win to us to consolidate our league position.

Good chance to see Baldock in action as well.

Excellent work all season Belv <ok> thanks for all the hard work <cheers>

I really can't see Kerkar being with us next season so why play him today? Play either Harriott/Jackson or Evina on the left and thank Kerkar then GET RID!

I reckon after his four goals in the week Michael Smith should be given a run out from the bench... He has only been playing at one level down for the past couple of months

Your match threads are much appreciated, Belv.
Lats game of the season, I don't see much point in having Obika on the bench unless we're thinking of buying him, which I doubt, so give Smith a turn as A4L says. After all he's getting to the age where next season if he doesn't feature at all in The Doctor's plans then forget it. If Harriott plays he should be offered his new contract as soon as he comes off the pitch.

Burnley v Ispwich and Birmingham v Blackburn both meaningless, although Birminghams game needs to been like 14 - 0 for it to mean something

Charlton: Button; Solly, Wiggins, Morrison, Dervite; Pritchard, Harriott, Gower, Jackson; Obika, Kermorgant

Charlton subs: Pope, Taylor, Hughes, Kerkar, Haynes, Wilson, Wagstaff

Hamer dropped, possibly being sold in summer? Also Hollands not even on bench curtains for him too I asume.

Cheers Belv for all your efforts. Sitting at a very wet valley almost wondering why I bothered today. Hope for a six nil but expected to see at least one youngster. Assume curtains for Hollands and green and Waggy on bench to say Cheerio.

I agree some strange selections but we can only guess the reasons.

Maybe the Good Doctor wants to have a last look at certain players before deciding whether to sign them (Obika, Gower)?

Maybe some players are not fit enough to start, or to play at all (Fuller, Hollands, Hughes)?

Could be some are even in the shop window for other interested clubs to have a last look before signing (Kerkar, Wagstaff, Haynes)?

Some may already have arranged transfers so don't want to risk injury (Green, Evina)?

Hamer is unfit, that's all we know for sure. Apart from that we can only speculate wildly. But what else is there to do until kick-off?

I am more interested in how the u18s are doing. Sorry there is no twitter coverage from Sparrows Lane. Must be half-time there.

Being the final game of the season and in our situation I don't see how anyone would read too much into any of the squad selection. Giving youngsters one game in the final day would be good, but it is not like if they don't get a shot it is a massive negative.

Here's to a final game win, I think we will get it, has been an enjoyable season for me batting out survival and pulling our way into a healthy very satisfying finishing position.

Staying up till 4am at times as the scores tick over has been enjoyable, but I will also enjoy this 9:45pm Sydney time start tonight.

All the best boys for those of you who are at the ground, let's take those final three points tonight and look forward to the offseason and all of it's unknowns.

Cheerio,
