I don't disagree that Bristol's transport system is bad but that is not all down to political incompetence. The point I am making is that the City's new stadium was built with some half baked transport plan which had no consideration for car users and it is now biting them up the bum in that the local residents are up in arms. The City have now bought the Wickes site for inter alia a carpark but how many years away will that be? All I am saying is that according to what I have read about the Arena the majority of Councillors have said that the promised transport alternatives were not produced as promised. That is what is recorded. If you have evidence that it has, fair enough.

No because even the Cardiff venues don't have parking either, because people either park and walk to venues or use public transport.

Some people just like to complain, its in their DNA, some think its makes them look intellectual! Some are just control freaks or bullies or attention seekers. Do we have more than our fair share of them in Bristol? Seems so.

If you put the thing up people will get there! if there is no parking they will find another way. the demand will create an opportunity and someone will fulfil that demand.

Talk. talk .talk. All through my lifetime!

True, it just seems to be lets find a stumbling block. But like I pointed out the Millennium stadium holds 75k for rugby and more for concerts but no one moans about parking and in fairness there isn't any that I can think off dedicated to the stadium. Parking in Cardiff amongst the shoppers etc.
Why does it work? Because it's next to a station like the arena would be.
Don't believe just because it's in Bristol that only Bristolians would be there so a huge proportion would be travelling from afar and on the trains most probably.
But let's stop it because there are only a small percentage of parking <doh>

Cardiff has far better train and bus links from the centre than we do.

How is Cardiff central a better train link than Temple Meads?

I dont do buses so can't comment on that.. but if your statement is true, then thats why it needs to be thought through and put in place.. something that can be done alongside the arena build.. its doesn't need to be held up to do that!

As others have said they're playing politics and as much as I hate Red trousers at least he gets things done. (mostly the wrong things!) but do we want to return the old politics of this City where they just sit and pontificate over everything for years on end.

Cardiff has much more train access within the city. Using the train is a better option for more people living in Cardiff. When there are events, special trains are put on for the extra numbers. There are more services during the day and more area seems to be covered by the station.

Temple meads is underperforming, this is summed up by the last train at night being 10:15 from btm to Parkway. The stations around Bristol have very infrequent services to btm. It only takes a packed train home from parsons Street or the inability to use trains back from an evening game to show this

Yeah, thats what would need to be sorted out.

Do you know the train times etc in Cardiff then or are you pulling these 'facts' out your arse again on presumption of knowing this? .. but not really knowing.

Just passing on info. It appears a car park was included

A previous decision not to build a car park at the new Bristol Arena is being reconsidered by the City Council. In September the council said building a car park at the new arena would send out the wrong message about sustainability, and Mayor George Ferguson said that by 2018 they would have had every opportunity to address the issue. However, in a clear U-turn, new plans revealed on Wednesday include a 480-space multi-storey car park on Bath Road. It's due to go before the council next week, before a final decision is made.

Which is a carpark used for city centre, please think arguments through. Bristol has plenty of city centre car parks which ok needs to involve walking but they are there already.

You have quoted train times from one station on main lines that goes to London and Birmingham towards north England. Not really the best selected example.

Do you not realise that Wales goes past Cardiff as well?

Plus the reason why Cardiff already has these is because of demand, if there is to be shows there will be additional trains laid on as the demand is there.

I would attempt to explain it to you but it would probably be too complicated for you and you'd say I was contradicting myself

You're quite capable of making yourself look stupid, you don't need my help.. I don't think you have made a single valid point since your very first post.

Ah well, you'll learn when you grow up.
