Ah **** it, I'm all argued out. We're still 5th in the league, which I would have been delighted with before a ball was kicked this season and maybe my words will motivate Fraser even more (who's to say that wasn't my plan from the start?

This has been a bigger worry in recent games...even as far back as Leicester at home.

It's probably fair to say that's why we didn't win but I'd say we lost because we made two defensive errors and gifted Man Utd two goals.

Sad to say, where I sit, in Row J, just left of the goal I have never heard Fraser shout. If we can't hear him the defence can't and that really must affect the communication. Doesn't seem like rocket science to sort it out.
I know you've subsequently given up on this debate, but I will point out that Forster was decisive with the Aguero chance. He decided to stay. You might not agree with the decision and at the time I was surprised he stayed as I think he could have made it, but clearly he had the Villa incident in his mind.
As a goalkeeper who has suffered many an embarrassment I can say that more often than not the right decision is to hold your position. Unless you're 100% about coming off your line then you're only going to make things worse because you're leaving an open goal behind you.
The best thing is to get your position set, get on your toes and back yourself to make the save, back your defenders to deal with it and put all the pressure on the attacker. Who knows they might miss the target. They're certainly more likely to miss facing a keeper than an empty net. If they bury it in the corner at 100mph then FairPlay
And because they have Rooney and Van Persie. We made two defensive errors, VP capitalised on both. They made several errors but we couldn't take advantage. That's the difference when you have genuinely world class strikers in your side.
That's been our story of the last few years...we have to make a lot of chances (which we often do) in order to score.
I've read back through this thread and I just wanted to apologise for being a stubborn pain in the arse yesterday. I was in a really bad mood for most of the day and I must admit I was far too harsh on Fraser. Sorry Fraser! I don't want to reopen the debate so I'll leave it there.
I thought actually our final ball, and namely Tadic, was a lot better in the United game, it was more our finishing that let us down. A little more composure and we could have been 3-1 up. Even *should* have been.
*ignoring possibly the worst final ball of the night from Tadic (5 yard, simple roll of the ball into Long inside the box), then maybe.
Well of course but even with those two players (and Mata) they only had three shots on goal and two of those were chances that we handed them.
That's what Ron said, we won that match for United. All that can be done now is try and learn from it...these are human beings we are dealing with. Things happen.
