There's constructive criticism and there's vicious, pointless, destructive criticism. Some of the stuff aimed at Lumley is way over the top in my opinion.

In my opinion Lumley is a very average keeper who struggles both with his feet and his confidence.

Good keepers are usually very confident and these days, in the main, they need to be good on the floor.
That's the way the games is going whether people like it or not.
He's probably a league one standard keeper and has cost us upteen points this season.
I never abuse him at games and always condemn anyone who does that to any player.
Social media is a cess pit generally and if I were a player I'd steer well clear of it.
I think the criticism Lumley has received on here has been balanced.
I praised him hugely for that catch and quick kick to release BOS.
However, in the same game he allowed a long range effort through his hands.

The bottom line is he's not good enough.

I was screaming at Manning about that 3rd goal as it looked in his zone and he let their man get behind him.

Yes, Manning's problem was that he had a man behind him AND a man in front of him; he was overloaded and got caught between the two. That's why I say it sometimes looks like we're playing a zonal defence at set pieces,,, and it's not working. As many on this forum have commented, we seem particularly vulnerable at the back post.

He's not helped by having an out of position Eze in front of him, although it would happen with Chair too who also isn't a wide player who can defend.
BOS is so he should start in front of our worst defensive full back, which is Manning.
We either don't play Chair and Eze in the same side or we change the formation to suit them.
We have a very poor defence, so I'd switch to 3-5-2 when more centre backs are available.
This gets Wells playing off Hugill and a holding midfielder behind Chair and Eze.
Manning is a far better wing back than left back.

BOS has to play though surely.

I'd love to see him tried as a wing back.
I think he's tailor made for that position.

Kelly must look diabolical in training not to be getting a start in front of Lumley.
Keepers are meant to save you points, not cost you points. Replace Lumley with Smithies and we would currently be top 3.

Aside from the fact that you have selected two injured players I dont think that formation ever works. You cannot have two flair players like that in centre midfield. The better formation in my book is to have two CDM players and and one CAM player. Cameron and Amos as CDM, Eze with the free role CAM, a proper QPR no. 10 role. No starting place for Chair in this line up mind.

I broadly like this but not sure it would work with two up top. Perhaps replace Wells with Pugh, who slots in on the right of the 3 behind the striker with Eze in the middle and Chair on the left. Hugill should be able to create a lot of space for those three.

I was selecting a line up as an example of what we could do with the present squad.
3-5-2 definitely has problems, like any other formation.
My thinking is that we should utilise our attacking players and try to out score the opposition.
Our defence is too **** to play a flat back four imo.
I certainly agree that Eze should be in the centre, even if that means not starting Chair away from home.

Amos is flattering to deceive a little imo.

Examples please.

Here you go...

Lumley must never play again.

or this......

6) rip up Lumley's contract in front of his face and tell him to find another career.

Just two of many on here and by all accounts he's had terrible abuse on other social media.

He's certainly having a bad time, and I would agree that he should be 'rested', but wouldn't you agree that to write off the career of a 24-year old who's suffering from a temporary loss of confidence is a tad over the top.

Wrong to suggest he looks for a new career but he clearly is not good enough to be playing at this level. He is killing us.

Re: Lumley : there was some comment on the radio commentary that Lumley was looking back/talking back at the Rs fans as though there was some abuse going on. No evidence to say it was - perhaps others there would know better.
But there’s no use in slagging off an under-confidence keeper if it was. And certainly won’t make him any better.

Well my comments re Saturday have been echoed on Facebook by Kevin Gallen. Actually he went further than I did. I wonder how many experts will be telling him that his comments are wrong?

BOS at wing back with some good coaching in the role, is something I've suggested a few times on here. I'd love to see him play there.

For those of us who have not sold our data to Cambridge Analytica, what did Kevin write?

I never want to see him play FOR US again is what I meant.

He's terrible.

I never condone direct abuse on Twitter etc or at the ground.
