David McGoldrick was the sort of player you were desperate to be better than he ever could be! Much like Brett Ormerod, Jason Euell and Bradley Wright-Phillips (when at Saints)

Gobern made his debut in that game, aged 17. I'm amazed we managed to finish second last with players like him, Lancashire, Paterson, McLaggon etc in the first team.

Also Jack Cork :D

Never rated Lancashire or Paterson, I think we all thought they were better than they were at the time because we coudn't afford any other decent players. McLaggon I thought had potential and it's a shame we didn't keep hold of him.

Some of them were good young players but there's no way you can make a decent Championship squad out of them. They were just the start, Jake Thompson, Lloyd James, Simon Gillett, Ryan Smith and probably more who I can't remember. Some of the young players did well, Surman and Lallana notably, a young Spiderman was in there as well and McGoldrick got a few goals in a terrible team to be fair.

Andrew davies! He was brilliant! We should try and get him back. Him and fonte would be one of the best defensive duos in a long time.

Alan Bennett, Irish CB we got on loan from Reading, played a few games, was utter **** and went back. Now plays for Cheltenham

lol - Alan Bennett turns like a ship. I held him single handedly responsible for the debacle that was Saints 1 v 4 Palace, that was his debut, looked like a fish out of water straight away. Awful.

Having said that, Bart looked like he'd just got out of bed too

Alan Bennett was one of the worst players I have seen pull on a Saints shirt. Imagine a defensive pairing of him and Pele, shocking, truly shocking!

Typical Lancashire - Im actually surprised the dismissal didn't help us out. Having said that he won man of the match against us up at Walsall last season!
