Didn't he score a header at Preston which sparked that 3-2 come back with MCgoal-drought running through 5 of their players to win the game? Or am I totally of the mark?

Gobern made his debut in that game, aged 17. I'm amazed we managed to finish second last with players like him, Lancashire, Paterson, McLaggon etc in the first team.
Also Jack Cork![]()
Never rated Lancashire or Paterson, I think we all thought they were better than they were at the time because we coudn't afford any other decent players. McLaggon I thought had potential and it's a shame we didn't keep hold of him.
Alan Bennett, Irish CB we got on loan from Reading, played a few games, was utter **** and went back. Now plays for Cheltenham
lol - Alan Bennett turns like a ship. I held him single handedly responsible for the debacle that was Saints 1 v 4 Palace, that was his debut, looked like a fish out of water straight away. Awful.
Having said that, Bart looked like he'd just got out of bed too
We never stood a chance that season with basically a youth team playing in the CCC. Although we did score a contender for goal of the season IMO at QPR. Does anyone remember this...?

i was at that game, amazing goal. then we conceded 3 more in the last 20 mins
didnt mills get sent off in like the 30th min though?
David McGoldrick was the sort of player you were desperate to be better than he ever could be! Much like Brett Ormerod, Jason Euell and Bradley Wright-Phillips (when at Saints)
It was Lancashire who got sent off.
