It was never going through because the fans were never going to be happy, regardless of how many more clubs joined.

If you read the thread you'll see this is no revelation to me mate..

I couldn't have been more clear as to who I thank for this

Of course we are joining for the money...no one denying that. The stadium was built for the purpose of holding non football events in the hope of making money via non football means so that we can compete with clubs like Chelsea and City on the pitch. Why? Because the sheiks and gangsters took over some clubs and unless you are taken over by them then you got to find another way...the chase has been for glory. Spurs have been the only club outside the traditional top 4 who have been trying in a manner that you should all be commending instead most of the fans think we are a joke when the reality is barring about 4/5 clubs all your clubs would want to emulate us because that’s the natural way to success or at least giving yourself a half chance of achieving it, no guarantees.

Should have supported Spurs and given them some love when they were trying to break through...now they’ve ****ed everyone off and grasped the chance to become a big boy without the hard work...found themselves a home where the neutral will appreciate the product and badge.

I blame you all
Not sure I agree with much of that, mate. You've got the highest debt out of all the supposed top 6.

This season you spent 100m on players, last season you spent 135m which included over 100 million spent on Ndombele, Sessegnin and Bergwijn. None of which are champions league level players. I can't be arsed looking through at the transfers of the top 6 in the last couple of years, but I'd imagine you have one of the highest net spends in the league.

Spurs have always pretty much been a top 6 club in my lifetime. We all have a natural level and I would say that is it for Spurs. You have never been able to establish yourself beyond that apart from brief periods.

Levy has failed but constantly gets supported by the Spurs supporters because he drives a hard bargain or something like that.

yeh I’m not one of them fans and now I doubt many others will be. Our ambitions are in line with the owners...their ambitions are about where we are...they have no real interest in furthering us on the pitch they just want to further the product financially. However they are not real football people hence why they don’t seem to understand that we are in a place where Levy could have had high returns on his investment if he bothers to take the football side seriously.

Greedy bastards

The flow of money isn’t the issue for me. It’s how that money is spent. How the clubs are ran.

The clubs that generate the money (commercial external revenue) are in the main the premier league teams and mainly the so called top 6.

However the pyramid allows them to be at the top. So it is fair to distribute “some” of the income. The competition rules that the fans have spoken for mean that any club can, if ran well, get to the top.

However FFP was basically a sham. It was manipulated to ensure the clubs with money can spend that money.

I do however think that it’s only fair that the clubs that have their **** in order can spend what they want.

It’s a big problem mind.

FFP was a sham. Man City spending £££££ on a new training ground to offset their spending on players and wages, so that they could maintain their dominance on the pitch. It just rendered the whole thing defunct, as those with the big money, were just able to move it around to other areas. It was like a version of laundering.

I agree that clubs who have their finances in order should be allowed to spend what they want. But the problem is that the commercial revenue goes to the top 6, so they end up with the big bucks, then you end up with clubs like Leicester and Everton with rich owners coming in who want to pump their own personal wealth into the clubs to try and catch up.

For me, the whole thing needs a radical shake up. The commercial revenue that comes into the game, should be spread more evenly across the league. I know the clubs are private businesses who are free to make their own deals, and I don't know how you get around that. But something needs to be done to stop the big clubs syphoning off the cream at the top.

FFP rules are a joke in themselves, they were merely the first attempt at a closed shop.

difficult thing about the commercial revenue generated by the big clubs is they have done all the hard work. Why should other clubs benefit from that.

Take my own club NUFC. Our commercial income (generated by our club) has flat lined for 14 years because of Ashley. He’s made no effort whatsoever to invest and make connections in this area and effectively let it rot.

Why should we benefit from other clubs hard work when they have invested millions to generate that commercial income.

Albeit some of it is dirty money mind.

Ban the teams from Europe and England will be a laughing stock as the West Ham and Wolves try to get past the qualifying stages of the Europa and Everton get tonked by FC Brugge in the 3rd qualifying round of the CL

You can Chuck about 10 teams out of the league and Toon still wouldn’t qualify

Dieting can really make some peeps angry, innit tho? <laugh>

At the same time they've done it on the never never, so now that they're in a financial mess why should puts and other clubs that are well run take the fall..

Tottenham are over a billion in debt... Big club or just acting big for too long?

A day after domestic football was saved the Newcastle United supporters Trust is out in force demanding to go on sky and complain about having to play 14 consecutive away games on Monday nights <laugh>

Possibly the best thing to come out of this is the absolute humiliation it has brought on the principal players (owners) of the break away group ... a much needed reality check and a lesson in humility... you are custodians, not eternal rulers

Football is soulless without the passion and rivalry of fans and it is not just confined to local derbies or the top clubs playing each other ... that has been made abundantly clear by their own fans voting with their feet.

Job well done the football community <cheers>

If there is no punishment then football is just kicking the can further down the road. If nothing is done this super duper league will be re-hashed and resubmitted later on and it will still be heavily weighted in favour of the bigger clubs.

It's a bit like planning permission. They will just keep resubmitting the plans over and over until someone accepts them and then they will go back to the original plans anyway.

This should only be the beginning not the end. There should be something to stop this happening again. I don't care if its fines, point deductions, fan involvement at board level, bans but it can't just end with them coming back saying they made a mistake and then just sitting at the head of the table again at the next meeting. This should instigate some kind of change in how the game is run on a global level.

If no punishments are dished out that punish fans and players, like points deductions, at least make them forfeit all TV revenues and prize money from all competitions for at least an entire season, maybe more. All that money the big six would’ve got goes through the rest of the pyramid and the greedy ****s don’t see a single penny from it.

so you think the correct punishment is to bankrupt 6 teams .<doh>
Sounds a great way to force them to go straight back to the ESL .

So what punishment fits the crime? A fine that they can easily pay off and laugh their bollocks at?

Points deductions aren't fair on fans and players, according to some (though I didn't hear many people saying it wasn't fair on Wigan, Sheffield Wednesday, Macclesfield and Bury).

Hitting them where it hurts and taking their revenues away isn't fair either, apparently. So we should just forgive and forget with a slap on the wrist and pray they never do it again?

you need to have regards to the statutes of the organisation who has the authority to pass punishment and what is considered reasonable or legal proceedings will follow as sure as night follows day .
