Freedom of Information request submitted to Northumbria Police. See if I can get the actual figure, i.e. numbers through the turnstile. I'm pretty sure they will have that information for safety purposes....

I've read a comment on Twitter from someone whose son works in the ground saying it was nearer the 37,000 mark, from looking at the pictures its clear thats the case. It would be good to get the actual number. I also read that someone turned up at half time without a ticket and one steward said to the other, "its empty just let him in!"

What I find the most insulting is that they think they can lie to us, they have no respect for the fans at all. Its clearly apparent that nowhere near 52k turned up. At one stage I had dejavu and thought we were playing villareal in friendly because it was so quiet

Might be wrong but I thought this was Premier League guidelines these days. Think Arsenal played Sunderland the attendance was given as a sell out and you could see empty seats on the TV, think the game was October 2011

the last pic above was in the first half
Vorm wearing a purple top defending at the leazes end first half
and it doesn't look like near half time either as there are not that many people walking around in the aisles
You may be right, although the clock in the corner of the pitch looks like it's on 45:00.

You will get that info for sure under a FOI request.

Apparently the official bookies at SJP are quoted as saying it was 31,000 in the end.

The FOI will tell us though.

Northumberland police have made a statement saying that they were provided with the attendance details by NUFC official so that is the number they have,

However Newcastle City Council Health & Safety have confirmed that the actual attendance was 30,075. This includes 2950 Spurs fans, leaving 27,125 Newcastle fans turning up

That is a very good effort.

If that is true that is a fantastic start

Tremendous.
Makes a right mockery of the official club line of '47,000.. the highest attendance on the premier league!!!!''.
Fat Mike and his propaganda machine remind me of the Iraqis in the first Gulf War who wheeled out COMICAL ALI to say there were no tanks in Baghdad.. whilst over his shoulder a column of Sherman Tanks rolled by...

I just hope this is definatley correct, as its plastered all over twitter. If it is correct i hope the major media outlets choose to run it as it will just show what a liar and bullsh!tter we have had to deal with

If it was 30-odd K that is a brilliant start..needs to be kept up

Not watching the stream was..kinda liberating..sat in the garden and pottered while popping back every 20 mins to check the scores (couldn't even be arsed to watch the highlights on MoTD either)

They get a lot wrong but, as others have said, they HAVE to report sold tickets and not actual attendees - that is Premier League rules, not an NUFC choice.

Last I heard on the radio this afternoon, the council were denying that was the attendance.
