I saw some media coverage of SJP just before kickoff and the place looked like a ghost town. I thought yippee the boycott has smashed this, but then the ground began to fill up and although l suspect numbers were lower than normal, about 47k by all accounts that is nowhere near enough to make a real statement to Fatty.
Such a shame, as l feel we really did miss a trick today.
Booing at the end and no atmosphere, okay, but why bother to boo, you are in the ground, in the seat, that gives the thumbs up to this regime to do what they like.
Including getting us relegated

yep .. owns worst enemy ...why i just cant understand ... I couldn't give a monkeys if I paid a thousand pound for a seat I still would not go ..its for the best ..

Will all the boycotters be back for the next game then? And next season? Or are they boycotting altogether?

Already talking on twitter about boycotting the Swansea match. Got to say I went to go to the game today, saw the protesters outside the ground and didn't go into the ground. Don't know if I'm going against Swansea. Doubt I'll go to the last two.

Well done. Must have took some doing. An empty ground will speak volumes.

Stop renewing season tickets would be the best message to send Ashley if you are unhappy, not stopping going to one game that most of the fans have already paid for. It doesn't need a big song and dance, and protests, flyers and grudge web sites. Just stop going.

For me I have stopped until the owner shows some ambition and will to succeed on the pitch. Not achieve success on the the pitch but to have an appetite to try. I don't think trying to get Ashley out is realistic as he will only go if someone offers him £300m+ for the club so that could happen tomorrow or in 30 years time and is completely independent of whether fans want Ashley out or not.

I thought the pundits in the Sky studio today spoke quite sympathetically about what's going on at our club and gave Ashley a fair bit of **** (inc. Niall Quinn) so I think the problems have been well and truly spelled out to Ashley and hopefully he will consider changing his approach.

Easy to say but when you have to let the club know by the 31st January it's a bit difficult. As for Niall Quinn having be chairman at Sunderland he will know exactly what Mike Ashley is like, better than any of us.

In response to what Sombrero yes it did, was the worst feeling to do but felt it had to be done. I know not all fans will agree with me.

The only language that man speaks is money. Sadly he cares not a jot about what we think or do provided we all give him our money.

Ashley will not change. Money talks for him and until the black and white money stops talking to him, he is not going to do anything different.

To pick up on Geordie Lass's comment earlier, he will continue to cold bloodedly murder this Club whilst doing so makes him money.

And he won't care.

My ass is out for a West Ham.

The club are playing down the real numbers but a mate texted me pics from inside the ground after kick off so I'll pop em up and you can judge for yourself.
I'd say 36,000 max.

Definitely not 47,000.
I thought it was more like 40,000, with 4,000 of those Spuds.
