Those close to Cortese say Pochettino shares his new chairman's ambition and his vision. The Argentine is a young, dynamic manager committed to playing attractive football and building a club that does not want merely to survive in the Premier League but to thrive in it.
Emotion would say it is wrong but sentiment was not a factor; this was a cold-eyed, business decision.

    This sums it up!

In my defence I made this thread when I was very much still hurting from the decision. I am unable to go anyway, but probably would have gone if I could.

Go and support someone else and leave this forum to real Saints supporters? Is that what you want us to say? Your choice.

So you're blaming the away fans for Chelsea's worst attendance in 5 years. Classic Chav logic!

It's gonna be a freezing cold monday night, and I'll have to drive down from London. This will have a bearing on my principled decision. But **** it, I'll probably go. That's why chairmen like Cortese can take the piss, because mugs like me will keep going whatever mad decisions they make.

Funny I thought we supported the club and the team not the manager. Think a few people need to get a grip. Nicola has been making the decision for almost 4 season's and not got much wrong.

Why? Standing up for your principles is childish? I'm sorry but I couldn't disagree more. Fans have every right to voice their displeasure and, if they feel it is necessary, boycott their club. At the end of the day, I want my club to act with integrity and I am willing to voice my displeasure if (or when, in the example of Portsmouth) they act in a manner I consider against this. If someone feels strongly about an issue and they choose to boycott the club as a result, that does not make them childish. If anything, continuing to blindly support the club even when the club are acting in a manner which they disagree with is childish. It means the club can perhaps just do whatever it likes and they'll still get unfaltering support. In addition, accusing other people of not being proper fans or whatever because they choose to express their displeasure through boycotting the club is also childish.

Personally if I were a Southampton fan, I would be livid with what's happened. Would I boycott St Mary's? I'm not sure, however I would not criticise someone who decided to.

I have a season ticket so of course I am going. Those of you saying that Cortese will be laughing at the fans for giving him money may i point out that season ticket holders have already given up their hard earned cash to watch every Saints home League game. So in fact any season ticket holder who Boycotts is downright moronic for throwing away money.

The main issue is that people in life take the approach 'oh well what can I do?', however that merely shows acceptance and encourages such poor ethics.

Like you I have a season ticket so will definitely be attending. If however I had to buy tickets individually then I think I would have struggled to find the motivation to head down on Monday.

For all those saying "we don't want to be like Chelsea", don't worry, you have no chance. Chelsea change their manager because they have an insatiable appetite for winning competitions. Southampton aren't going to win anything. And you aren't going to qualify for anything. You stabbed your best manager in the back who made you what you are now for the hope of finishing 14th in the league rather than 15th. And now most of you are lining up to suck the new manager's dick and piss on Adkin's grave. Don't forget to buy your programmes on Monday so you can read all about the chairman's ambitions!

Gee wiz folks some of you get a grip for goodness sake........If some of you wish to boycott the coming game then do so it is your right and can be understood..........Don't criticise those that don't feel that way. You do not have to call each other names just to make a point. What has happened today is very emotive for a lot of people and they should not be criticised because of their feelings either way. I don't care what side of the coin your on no one can say they were expecting it or could predict it. It is my opinion that this new manager will only have a short time to make his presence felt because people lose patience very quickly when things go badly. The new manager is going to be blamed for every missed shot every defensive error every game we lose win or draw as something will be spotted that wouldn't be done if Our Nige was here. People it is going to be tough enough without falling out with ourselves over this. I personally am going to support our team not the manager he will have to earn my affection the lads in the team already have it!!
