    No, no it doesn't.

You're still a bunch of giant grizzling fannies, however.

I know that, but would hope he's basing it on sound footballing reason. There is NO pure football justification for this decision. Its replacing a manager with a great record for one with an average (at best) record, less experience, NO experience of English football and one who can't speak the native language. Its a ****ing mental decision in ALL regards.

So if its not a footballing decision, its a personal one. I suggest its pure jealousy that Cortese hates the fact that Nigel is so popular.

The club (Cortese) obs doesnt give a toss about its fans. Despite supporting the club through thick and thin and then getting the rewards of two successive promotions and having a manager the fans love, it puts the ticket prices up, makes it harder for fans to attend away games, changes the colour of the kit and then just as things seem to be stable and going forward they sack the manager and appoint someone who hasnt a reputation and is unknown. They obs dont give a f@*k about the fans and so the only thing the fans have is to stop attending the games. This is not on! One Nigel Adkins! Cortese out!

I'll go to support the TEAM, but I will not support Cortese. The new manager I don't really care about atm.

I clicked boycott because I personally can't make the game (lent my season ticket to my sister) but surely a boycott would attack the wrong parts of the club?

How about we all go and sing "one Nigel Adkins" to show our gratitude for the amazing service he gave to the club?

Precisely. The attitude of the Chelsea fans has done the squad and Benitez absolutely no favours; arguably it's contributed hugely to the problems there at the moment.

Yes a tribute for him in the next game but hopefully not every home games of the season! We need to pay tribute to Nigel but also get behind our new manager Mauricio :)

So, they have an entitlement to be angry. They have supported the club a lot longer than those owning/running it have.

As do we. Its always a bloody easy excuse for managers to blame a negative atmosphere at games. In reality, players are told from an early age to ignore fans and the ones I have ever talked to admit this. The noise to them at games is a blur, they are focused on the job they are doing.

It just makes you an idiot! At what point does the club you support - or yourself - benefit? When we go down? When the new manager gets sacked? The only outcome you want is for Adkins to be reinstated; almost certainly the least likely of any possible outcomes. You would be less of a soul-seller if you simply stopped supporting the club. Support whoever Nigel manages next, why don't you?

There could be anything to this story - Nigel may have been playing away with Cortese's wife - unlikely, but I bet he got at least a point if he did.

Plus Benitez has a history with the Chelsea fans - something that is not the case with the guy who's name I have not yet learnt how to spell. A completely different situation entirely.

There will be a natural backlash from fans because its a total lunacy of a decision. Cortese too stupid or stubborn to care.

Your right it will effect the team just like Chelsea and will most likely lead to relegation now. But there WILL be a backlash and aguably rightly so.

I don't want us becoming the new Chelsea.

ie. exactly the same situation as when Cortese came in. What planet have some of you come from that this hasn't been obvious previously? I mean, the amount of 'Cortese will pay you a little visit' or 'Cortese will put a wrapped fish in your bed' on here every single bloody day, yet you expect him not to run this club as a corporation. You can get away with thinking that in the lower leagues, but not at Premiership level - this is worth absolutely millions to him. When we achieve the level of success we all seem to want, it will get worse too, as we'll be lost amongst a sea of new fans, and every person we meet who finds out who we support will assume we're one of those glory hunters.

On the face of it, and my own view, this is a massive mistake - possibly the only one he's made - but got no empirical evidence to support that as yet; I am as naive as anyone, as I was imagining we were going to do this the good way, with Adkins being our Alex Ferguson. It's the timing rather than the action that has really done this, as if he had gone when originally the press were circling after ten games or so, were quite a few on here both calling for it and accepting it.

Nigel almost certainly would have been aware of this move before the Chelsea game imo.

So by that rationale, when The manager and the players say how great the support was and how it was like having a 12th man they are in fact telling lies. Maybe that's why Nigel got sacked because he was always saying how great and helpful our support was. Maybe Cortese was sick of his lies.

They might well be trained to, but that doesn't mean it works. We all know that the opposite is effecive - when fans start getting loudly behind their team it galvanises them.

I understand the notion of an entitlement to be angry, but my point is that it serves no positive purpose. It won't help the team, it won't help the new manager and it won't kick Cortese out.

In my relatively unbiased position, I would say as a fan anyone has the right to choose to boycott their team if they feel it is necessary and disagree with the way the club is being run (for example, I boycotted Fratton Park for moooonths) and if they want to, that's fair enough I think. That doesn't make anyone a lesser fan or anything. Whether it will make any difference to the way the club is run or not, I don't know but some might say it's worth trying. If you do attend a game though, I think it's important to get behind the team (even if not the manager)....
