There will never be another Tyson. Savage instincts in the ring, and out of it at times, but when he speaks he offers some wonderful insights into life. Would have been a great student.
Tonight is a strange one. Rules say its an exhibition etc, if it turns out to be glorified sparring then the ppv crowd will not be happy.
Tyson, The Undisputed Truth is a great read btw.
 
Hats off to Joe Joyce. And no disrespect to Joe, but if you cant get out of the way of a Joe Joyce jab you have absolutely no chance of competing at the higher echelons.

I thought Daniel put in an absolute shocker and judging by how he was in the corner of every round, he seems to lack the heart/determination to be a champion.

I remember when Gary Mason was jabbed horribly and beaten up badly by Lennox(Far farworse than Daniel endured)But he fought to the end until the fight was mercifully stopped by the ref.

Nowhere to go now, I'm afraid for Mr Dubois

It was a pretty awful fight. On Joyce's part, it was a ram rod jab, a granite chin and superior fitness that earned him the much deserved win. God knows where he goes from here though. You can see that right hand coming from three miles back. I doubt if it'll happen, but I'd like to see him fight Dillian Whyte. He of course has another agenda. Just as well Joe is 35 and can't have too many years left in him, in the pro ranks, he can't keep shipping blows like those to the head. If Joshua vacates the WBO belt to fight Fury, then Joyce should be in line to face Usyk for that belt. He'll get the chance to avenge that loss to Usyk in the amateurs. It'll be a huge ask though.

Dubois was exposed big time. To see the bout finish like that was a bit of a shock too. It seems he may have a broken the orbital socket.

The British title fight was not that great. Joyce looked slow and plodding, doesnt have a big enough punch to trouble Fury or Joshua and they will pick him off. At 35 hopefully he gets a shot and makes enough money to see bis days out in comfort. Dubois, back to the drawing board, maybe get an "A" level trainer. He has power and the a decent combination of tools but he needs taught how to use them better, certainly needs more heart after getting stopped in that manner. Fury would play with him, Joshua would beat him but Dubois could catch him and has a punchers chance only.

Tyson at 54 looked sharp for his age and 15 years out a ring. Jones looked to survive and didnt want to feel a Tyson shot, he has got to enjoy the $3m after all. Neither should get any grand ideas of fighting for real and both to their credit realise this and made no bones about it. Seems there will be more of these match up in future. Tyson v Holyfield, Jones v Toney perhaps?

If I remember correctly I predicted Dubois would get Joyce out in about 2 rounds based on the slowness of Joe- so I called it totally wrong and a big well done to the “Juggernaut”.

What you saw was how a pedigree and some boxing experience and lessons learned can trump some of these bullies who have knocked out a couple of dust bin lids.

Dubois didn’t have a repertoire- he looked like Wilder did against Fury- one trick and once that was nullified there was nowhere left.

Quitting so easily would worry anyone backing him to reach the top. We may be proven wrong but he has many, many levels to go and learn.

Usyk V Joyce being mooted- I only see a one sided unanimous to Usyk there, but good luck to Joe Joyce.

I imagine somewhere in Europe the Klitschkos are training quietly and fancying their chances of dominating everyone bar Fury and AJ.

Yeh I was totally wrong in my prediction too.

But to not totally trash Daniel, he was actually winning the fight on the cards up until the stoppage. His lack of headmovment to a painfully slow and telegraphed jab is my biggest issue and concern for him.

Let's not forget Wlad Klitschko was a jibbering wreck in a couple of his fights up until he decided to bring in the greatest trainer of all time. But then again he was an Olympic gold medalist, so he clearly had all of the fundamentals to succeed.

So maybe Daniel does have a glimmer of hope as long as he invests in a world class trainer. Maybe Freddie Roach can take him on or someone similar.

Yeah mine too- I think he was shut down by a very basic fundamental heavyweight style. Against a genuine top level he’d be very vulnerable.

That said- a great trainer might put in some fundamentals of his own and give him the platform to mix it at that level eventually, so we will see in time.

As for big Jo- he’s having to learn fast at his age so it’s going to be a tough ask but an intriguing watch I guess.

Well if the Tyson - Jones affair on the weekend is anything to go by, it looks as though the sweet science might be on it's way to the underworld in an over filled, **** bucket. The numbers have been crunched and the end result is one million buys and a squillion bucks. The old, died in the wool boxing fans have chipped in with some generous support, but the great fear is that the big cash flow came from the fans of the YouTube sensation Jake Paul who fought the basket ball star Nate Robinson.

Is the sport now getting to the stage where a couple of old geezers and a side show act between two useless bastards is all we have to look forward to? The huge names like Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Canelo Alvarez will always be handsomely rewarded, but where is the justice when most world champions will be paid less than a million, and Jake Paul walks away with a reported 10 million? And I'm not suggesting that he doesn't deserve the money, after all, he's a man who probably generated a good percentage of the buys. But Jesus, if the only way boxing promoters can generate decent revenue is by producing evenings filled with bullshit, things are beginning to look pretty grim for the fight game.

According to an article I read, Ali after being stripped of his belts, released the Lineal title which allowed Joe Frazier and Jimmy Ellis to compete for the honour, when they clashed for Ellis' WBA belt and the vacant WBC title in 1970. Joe's title mentioned in the introduction was from the New York State Athletic Commission. The fighter wanted to go on, but the corner said no.

Not sure what Billy Joe Saunders is playing at fighting Martin Murray. Talk about a step backwards.

Martin is a lovely guy, but his best days and they weren't that great were behind him about 5 years ago.

Saunders is absolutely full of **** and clearly wants no part of top level fighters. What a waste of a career considering I think he could be pretty good..I guess we will never know.

I agree mate. Big fan of his in the ring but until he takes the risky fights he'll never fulfill his potential. Coasting along for a few decent paydays. Murray is long past his best and was always short of top class. He's retired at least once before aswell

I wouldn't watch this fight if you paid me. Total waste of everybody's time and effort even making this match.
