According to Mike Coppinger, Crawford's people have sent a letter to Top Rank asking for a serious fight, something Arum hasn't been able to secure because the top guys are with PBC, who have plans of their own. Spence goes up against his stablemate Danny Garcia in early December, so Crawford will miss out there. And the Pacman seems keen on the Conor McGregor fight.

Since Crawford's contract with Top Rank doesn't end until October next year, Bud will be 34 before he gets clear of his present promoter ... if he wants out. And if he want's to walk, why would PBC offer him a fight when they can just wait until his contract expires, then sign him? That way PBC get to keep all the belts, no matter who wins. Why would they want to give Bob Arum a free shot?

I think Bud's on a fast train to nowhere for the next 12 months.

This is what happens when you are the most avoided man in boxing. Same thing happened to GGG,and the same thing will happen to Beterbiev.
 
I don't know who Beterbiev. is signed with, but his last bout was under the Top Rank banner, so he'll probably be ignored by PBC. The reason being that Beterbiev was promoted by a gent who did his work though Al Haymon's PBC, and when the gent left the game, Beterbiev forced a release from PBC and a cash payment as well for PBC's lack of support when it came to opponents.

If Beterbiev has signed with Top Rank, there's every chance PBC will shun him. It's just business. If anyone links with Top Rank, there's a serious lack of opponents compared to PBC who have a massive list. Crawford now seem to want out of Top Rank, and Beterbiev has just signed. The latter will have the same problems as the former. Each promoter looks after their own.
 
Canelo Alvarez has finally agreed on an opponent for his next bout, it's to be the WBA Middleweight Champion, Callum Smith. The bout is marked down for December 19. The venue is yet to named, but it may be at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas where he did a number on Callum's brother Liam in 2016. This will the first fight for Canelo since beating Sergey Kovalev at Light Heavyweight last November. He'll be dropping down to 168.

1-4. Alvarez.
7-2. Smith.
 
I'm not sure many folk will have heard of an Argentinian fighter named Juan Domingo Roldan, but those of us with old, wrinkly skin and grey whiskers, will have fond memories of him. He only lost 5 of his 67 bouts, with 3 of those defeats coming in title fights against serious champions, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns and Michael Nunn.

Yesterday "The Hammer" Juan Domingo Roldan passed away due to Covid19 related issues. He was 63. <rose>

10-11-1983. The fight that earned Roldan his shot at Hagler. It was his first fight outside Argentina.

Carved out of teak. Fought in the toughest ever era of Middleweights.Credited with the only man to put Hagler down(even though it was a slip)

He should outclass Smith but there is one red flag from boxing history for me-

Roy Jones coming down in weight after flying through the weights in a short period and getting knocked out by Tarver.

This isn’t the same as Canelo hasn’t bulked up to Heavyweight like Roy did, but ultimately it wasn’t that long ago he was at 154lb against Mayweather. He was 175lb division for Kovalev and now this is at 168lb I believe?

There’s only so much yo yo these fighters can do before it takes effect.

Maybe Smith can make his size count - he’s a big super middleweight.

You wouldn’t think he has a chance based on last fight but boxing is a funny sport where styles make fights. Canelos body punching might end this early before Smith can get a blow in though, we will see.

If Canelo is non the worse for the weight change he will win comfortably but if not maybe Smith has a punchers chance.

I'm not sure any version of him turning up will be much of a fight to be honest. An average Rocky Fielding and a washed up George Groves on his record give him a bit more credit than is due in my opinion. I'm not saying his ****e because I do rate him but this is about levels and he just isn't there

For Smith its about scoring by far the biggest payday of his career. I'm sure deep down he knows he cant win. Smith is a good kid, but as you say it's all about levels.

I don't know, some times I think I have the boxing scene all arse about. There are a lot of fights coming up in the near future that fans are eager to see, fights such as the Joshua - Pulev bout, and to a lesser extent, the clash between Dubois and Joyce are all worth watching. Obviously the heavyweight world title fight is something nobody wants to miss, but for me, I seem to be getting more out of fandom from a much lesser fighter, a man who today, will be making his third appearance in three months. And he's fun to watch and gives a great interview. He probably won't rise to any dizzying heights during his career, but he will offer up some serious entertainment value. I find his attitude rather refreshing. And now it I'll happily to admit to being newest member of that rapidly growing band of brothers known as the "Savage Army." <laugh>

And the man's name? Alen " The Savage" Babic.

And the Tom Little side of things. There's no doubt that Little is much more skilled than Babic who's style, at best, can only be described as agricultural. Little comes into this bout with 10 wins against 8 losses, but some of those losses were to serious men such as Dubois and Hrgovic. But he's lost his last 4. On the plus side though, he's shed about a stone and looks ok. He's taller and has a longer reach that Babic, but can he hold off the wild swinging, hard charging Savage?

Tom Little is utterly dreadful. Very early KO for the Savage.

The former WBA Super Featherweight Champion, Javier Fortuna is now looking to make his mark at Lightweight. Last night in the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, he fought Antonio Lozada. He gave up 5 and a half inches in height and 5 inches in reach. The only men rated above him in the WBC rankings are Teofimo Lopez, Devon Haney & Vasiliy Lomachenko.
