Gatti was sadly In too many fights of the year. A true ring warrior though.

I don't know how many people have heard of the South African Hekkie Budler, holder of the IBF Junior Flyweight Title, but he's a man who's about to step away from his championship. The reason? Money. In a day and age where the heavier weighted fighters can actually earn millions of dollars for a non title fight (Whyte - Parker) the little guys can find themselves earning next to nothing for a title defence.

Budler has been ordered to defend his title against Felix Alvarado from Nicaragua. He didn't have a problem with taking the fight, but the purse bid was so low that he's thinking of dumping his belt. His share was to be just $18,750. Pretty sad.

I suppose most of the hype at the moment falls on the clash between Whyte and Parker, but another great bout will be staged across the pond today. Four weight world champion Mikey Garcia puts his WBC lightweight title on the line against the reigning IBF champion Robert Easter Jr. Garcia has to give Easter 5 inches in height and a massive 8 inches in reach, so he'll have his work cut out for him. I'm a Mikey Garcia fan so I'm hope he can overcome these hurdles.

What a night’s boxing. As I’ve said for a long time Dillian Whyte is pretty much the real deal, he’s in around world class level and he’s improved absolute bundles from the AJ defeat and in putting Parker on his hole he’s even done something the golden boy couldn’t do. Parker has the speed and brains, but does he lack the guts? There’s something missing within him it seems to me. On talent he’s right up there with them all.

Chisora really came up trumps when he’s been written off, Takam another who preformed capably against AJ but tonight just got caught the way the heavyweights can.

Delighted Whyte done the business, a guy whose not been given the platform the way AJ has but has shown with hard work and graft he can scale the heights too, fantastic stuff.

After the Ukrainian powerhouse Oleksandr Usyk's thrashing of Murat Gassiev, he quickly called out Tony Bellew. Prefight, Bellew had made no secret of his desire to take on the winner of the Ali Trophy. Now Usyk wants the Bomber, so Eddie Hearn has made contact with the team from the East. Early stages yet though.

When Bellew told Hearn that he wanted Usyk, Hearn assumed that he wanted the fight at heavyweight, but Bellew replied that if he was to face Usyk, he wanted a chance at all the belts. So hopefully, the bout will be at Cruiserweight ... if Usyk agrees. The unified champion has no problem fighting in the UK.

Early betting.

1-7 Usyk.
9-2 Bellew.

I like Tony I really do. He is a fighter with plenty of heart and a fellow Scouser and I want him to do well.
But Uysk is levels above and Tony should do himself a favour and leave well alone.
