Gotta say it ... heroic effort from McGregor.

You wouldn't have thought that listening to that bellend Carl Froch. I won't be buying any more Sky PPVs if they are going to employ that tosser on commentary again.

Such a brave effort from McGregor. The fact it took the best boxer in history 10 rounds to stop him, proves MMA is the superior combat sport. Mayweather would have lasted about 5 seconds if it was in the Octagon.

Brave effort from Macgregor - wasn't so early for me to watch as I'm out in France at the moment.

Bizzarely I managed to find a free stream to watch on my phone but yet you can't seem to access online betting sites out here anymore!

I don't think it's that easy Shergy. Floyd at 40 can't be the man he was 10 years ago when at his peak, but even with the shorter reach, extra 11 years and probably around a stone less in weight after re-hydration and not having stopped anyone in nearly a decade, he still managed to pound Conor into the ground. At 155 pounds, I don't think today's Floyd could stand against GGG or Canelo.

As for MMA fans needing to keep returning to what would happen in the cage, it's a non issue. McGregor stepped away from his comfort zone to take on a new sport. This fight was all about boxing, it had nothing to do with MMA. Cop it on the chin buddy. :)

We all know Mayweather was going to win, I said he would beforehand, it was just amusing that it took the best boxer of his generation a good half hour to get a stoppage on a guy who's never had a proffesional boxing match.

He couldn't even get a knockdown in half hour <laugh>

Not only that McGregor dominated in the early rounds, and Mayweather only started to show his authority once McGregor tired.

Boxing is a sport where point scoring has been allowed to prevail, with cushions for gloves and restricted rules. Take those cushions off and Mayweather would have been KO'd in the first.

As you yourself have pointed out the best boxer of his generation, and in terms of records the best of all time, went 10 years without stopping anyone. So I think to call boxing a fight, is to use the term very loosely.

I look forward to Mayweather accepting a rematch in the Octagon, or not <laugh>

Easy pickings for Badou Jack there. A good example of why there are to many world titles these days. Cleverly just isn't good enough to fight at world title level.

Agreed, definitely too many belts out there. Cleverly, much like Ricky Burns has always been good but never great. His fight with Andrej Fonfara a couple of fights back was a great scrap though

A bit ironic that we should be talking about McGregor's much vaunted power Shergy, when Conor was the one punched to a stand still with those pillows. :)
McGregor's power was always overrated. Its absolutely fine ko-ing guys who can barely stand up and who place their chins on his gloves. But even up against an over the hill Mayweather, his power punches were very ineffective.

He was beat through exhaustion, He wasn't beat from being hurt. McGregor isn't used to a point scoring long drawn out match. When you hit your opponent in MMA they feel it, so they don't need to fight for 12 rounds.

Take the gloves off and Mayweather would have been KO'd in the first.

How? Why?
