There's a really interesting fight tonight in London. The IBF Super Featherweight Champion Gervonta Davis has crossed the pond to put his belt on the line against England's Liam Walsh. Betting has "Tank" Davis as an overwhelming favourite for the fight, he's at about the 3-11 mark while the man known as "Destiny" is a 7-2 shot. Davis is a beast with his fists, winning 16 of his unbeaten 17 bouts by knock out. Walsh on the other hand appears to be a bit more slick around the ring and faster of hand, but he can't pop like Davis. Of his 21 wins, only 14 have come by stoppage. Walsh is also unbeaten. Both are south paws. I think a few people may be underestimating Walsh's ability. If he can keep on the move, he has enough talent to steal rounds. Can he stay away and steal enough rounds? Dunno. Walsh has a bit going for him. He's as keen as mustard and will have the crowd behind him, so if it goes the distance, anything can happen. Personally, I think Gervonta Davis will prove too good. Fingers crossed for young Liam though.

Ok, sensational happenings at the Andre Dirrell v Oscar Escandon bout. Dirrell won the IBF Interim Super Middleweight Title by disqualification after being clipped a fraction of a second after the bell. As the clip shows, he said he was alright, but voices implored him to stay down. This way he could salvage the bout by dq. He did, he won by dq while behind on points. But fair enough, he was clipped late. It didn't look good though. The ref got it right.
Then all hell broke loose in the ring. Dirrells' uncle and trainer took exception to the late shot on his nephew and went the thug route. He then did a runner. The police are now looking for him. First the fight ending, then the melee.

Hugely impressive from May weather's charge, seemed as if he simply decided to move from 1st gear to top gear in the third, having been slightly cautious at the opening. There's levels to the games and Walsh is nowhere near world level on that showing. Loma destroys Davis too BTW reaffirming this view!
Daniel Dubios showed nothing more than he carries horrific power in his hands. A 40 second KO last night! If he can take a punch Frank Warren possibly has an absolute star on his hands but its such early days to get carried away. In saying that, you'd struggle to think (straight off anyway) of a much more exciting 19 year old heavy weight for a long time. Hope he gets plenty of experience over the next 12 months and we might even see him competing at British level against the likes of Cornish, Dave Allen etc I suspect in a years time he'll be well ahead of those but who knows. I like him anyway and hope he proves me right within a year!
On the world stage I hear Terence Crawford put on a masterclass, hope to catch it at some point today. He's a proper special talent.
