Day 6 of the High Court battle between Carl Frampton and the Cyclone Promotions UK Ltd saw on display, the potential cost to each camp. It can be ugly when friends fall out. https://www.rte.ie/news/courts/2020/0916/1165564-frampton-mcguigan/
There is a whisper that the Youtuber Logan Paul may be fighting Mayweather. I thought the Mike Tyson v RJJ was taking the piss. If the Mayweather debacle happens I may seriously consider giving up watching boxing.

I'd normally side with the boxer over the promoter every time but Frampton is such a prick I hope he loses this one
The former WBC, WBO, IBF Cruiserweight Champion Mairis Briedis returns to the ring tomorrow in the final of the World Boxing Super Series in Munich. His opponent in the final is the reigning IBF Champion Yunier Dorticos, the big banger from Cuba. Despite the Cuban's impressive record, 24-1-0 with 22 KOs, Dorticos goes into the bout as the under dog according to the betting. The champ is quoted at 6-4 while Briedis is 10-17. Mairis Briedis enters the fight for the first time since a sensational bout against Krzysztof Glowacki in June last year. In some ways, people are calling it the fight of the year, but not so much for the levels of skill, but for the fouls and final stoppage in round three as Briedis looked to defend his WBO title in the semi final of the WBBS when seeded number 1. The fight quickly turned into a fiasco. In the second round, Glowacki blatantly punched Briedis in the back of the head, in retaliation, the latter elbowed Glowacki in the face, causing him to lose a point. Glowacki hit the deck as though he's been bashed by a length of pipe. The fight resumed. The ref did not hear the bell at the end of the round and they punched on. After finally waking up, the ref stepped in to halt the second. In the third, Briedis was all over Glowacki and finished it in 40 seconds. Then the politics began. After initially siding with the judges who awarded the fight to Briedis by KO, the WBO was forced to backtrack when it was revealed that both fighters and the ref were not licensed by the local commission. They ordered a replay which put Briedis in a spot, he either took the rematch which would allow him to defend his belt, or head to the Final of the WBBS where he'd face Yunier Dorticos for the IBF belt and the Ali Trophy. After choosing the WBSS road, the WBO stripped him. Briedis goes into the bout as the number 1 ranked fighter in the world. Dorticos is rated number 4. It's nice to see serious bouts returning to the boxing stage. I'm really looking forward to this one.
This bit of film shows just how dangerous contact sports can be. The fight begins at about 1:40 and finished about a minute later. The beaten man lies on the canvas with eyes wide open, but is unable to concentrate on his surroundings. Even on his stool, he couldn't follow a moving finger. Thankfully he started to get things together after about 5 minutes. The fight was staged in Miami yesterday.
Good matchup, but it doesn't exactly get the blood pumping. Now the Loma fight is one I'm really looking forward to.
I've been a huge fan of the Cruiserweights for a few years now DB, ever since the first WBSS. So for me this is a beaut. I agree about the Loma fight too. It'll be a cracker. The Americans are into Lopez big time and comes into the bout the bigger man. He has height, reach and power over Loma, but nowhere the skill set, so it will be a brilliant match up.
Another interesting heavyweight prospect strutted his stuff in France last Friday. The 2016 Olympic Super Heavyweight Gold Medalist Tony Yoka made short work of Joann Duhaupas, sending him to canvas twice in the first round, before the ref stopped the bout. Despite the fact that Duhaupas looked a mere shadow of the fighter who went 11 rounds with Deontay Wilder in2016, Yoka showed he has a future in the sport. He's still rough around the edges and beat a well worn man, but now that he's in the hands of Bob Arum's Top Rank, he'll get an easier ride than most. It was only his 8th fight as a pro.
That was someone hitting a punch bag Cyc. Total mismatch and difficult to know what to make of Yoka from that
That was so boring I had to keep fast forwarding. Although the one with white gloves did a lot of stalking the other one was clearly the better of the two. I think if it had gone on, forever, the one with the red gloves would have eventually knocked the other one out
Josh Taylor puts his WBA & IBF World Super lightweight Titles on the line against Thailand's Apinun Khongsong.
Arslanbek Makhmudov is a 31 year old Russian fighter based in Canada. In the clip below which was released in May, it's stated that his next fight will be in the USA, but now will be on the undercard of Memieux - Ntetu clash in Canada on the 10th of next month. The heavyweight scene if full of interesting, fringe fighters looking to get a toe hold in the game. Makhmudov is one of them. As is the usual case in these situations, the fighters are fed heaps of easy kills, and the "Lion" has been handed the same. He's gorged well on the defenceless. He's right hand heavy and takes a few, but his full on aggression makes him fun to watch. There's nothing like watching power punching heavyweights in action.
At the moment, it looks as though there will be no broadcast next month of the Lomachenko - Lopez bout in the UK, and Bob Arum is pissed about it. He wants to know why Sky / Hearn can put on a PPV fight between a heavyweight, fringe contender / journeyman in Dereck Chisora and an unproven heavy in the shape of 33 year old Oleksander Usyk, and refuse the massive Lomachenko - Lopez fight. Nobody, Sky, BT Sport, ITV etc seem keen on buying the fight. It's a shame. This fight promises to be something memorable. Will the wily old master at 32 be able to fend off the hungry, young bull? This bout could be a major turning point in both careers.
A lot of boxing pundits are calling today's Zepeda - Baranchyk bout, the fight of the year. One suggested it might even be the fight of the decade. The end was swift and brutal.
