Spoken by a person who has never stepped in a ring.
Not everyone can Arturo Gatti or Iron Mike.
A much as I don't like Furys style, he puts himself in the ring to be KO,ed , just like every other boxer that steps into the ring.
It just so happens that nobody yet has the skill or power to finish him off.
Wilder has power but that's all he has. He doesn't gave the required skill to open up more skilled or elusive fighters. He needs to soften them up with stiff jabs and body shots. He can't do any of this as its not in his makeup or skill set.
So before we berate Fury and his lack of gladiatorial instinct, think about what you would you do if you faced Wilder. Would you stand and trader with a banger(even if you didn't gave the same power), or would you use your elusiveness and attempt to stay away from a potential KO.
So you call me out on having never stepped in a boxing ring(which is true) You then go on to give the world heavyweight champion advice on how to open up his opponents. Some double standards going on there mate, as I’m pretty sure your not Barry McGuigan either.
Either way my point is more about how i see a professional fight. It shouldn’t be a game of cat and mouse. It’s quite clear to me that Deontay Wilder landed the heavier blows, and did the most damage to his opponent.
Wilders game plan was never to win rounds, Wilders game plan was to take out his opponent, and yeah he threw a lot of wild punches, but that’s the chance you take when your a fighter. Fury’s game plan from start to finish was to hide behind his long reach, and nick rounds 10-9 without taking any risks. That’s not fighting, that’s playing the game if you ask me.
I don’t doubt that Fury showed great heart in getting up from the floor twice, but I really don’t see why Wilder should have lost his belt, when he’s not even been remotely troubled by any of Fury’s punches for 12 rounds.
Eddie would have won more respect tonight if he put White and Chisora on regular Sky instead of trying to piece together a PPV.
