As I was sat through the turgid hoofball yesterday I couldn't help but think about the good old days of boxing day away trips to see the lads.

One that stuck in my mind was early 90s against QPR, running battles against cockneys and piles of lads fighting with their lot that was overshadowed by a narrow loss (3-2iirc?). Stopping in service stations on the way down and seeing if anyone else was game for it. Halcyon days man

The Christmas games were the stuff of legend, it gave me an excuse not to have turkey sandwiches with her side of the family and there was hardly any work at that time of year so it was nowt the bother if I woke up in a bed of some tart I'd just met the night before or in a prison cell

Thinking about organising something similar next Christmas with the seaburn lot

Anyone else got good memories of Christmas matches?

Beating Man City at the sol. A century away sadly from doing that again

One of my sons was a mascot at that QPR game, he got a great reception from our end.

We were in a pub with a wooden floor and it was rammed with our lads jumping up and down in unison ...

... their lads kept opening the front door, looking in and walking on <laugh>
