Morison’s halo has slipped since he took over and his personality and displays in press conferences are curious to say the least. Also picking Bacuna to start will require some explanation; he has also publicity criticised him but that’s expected but hasn’t to my knowledge said why he was put on the pitch at the start.

Fully agree Ninian. No need at all for that public comment on Davies. He needs the ball played in front of him so he can run at defenders. That didn't happen. Colwill was as ineffective.

At least Bacuna won't be a selection issue for the next 3 games.

As for Nelson, it appears he has spent more time on the pitch than any other City player this season. That paints a picture. Also, Cherries fans I spoke to thought he was our best defender. Funny how people view games differently. <doh>
 
With reference to Nelson it is his performances week on week, he has no pass, cannot direct a header, like a headless chicken with the ball at his feet and just clobbers it anywhere. His only asset is, he will jump in the way of anything, his bravery is not in question. It is simply the fact that a player on £14k a week cannot play football

Trouble is we have a few like that.
 
Agree about Nelson's bravery being his biggest attribute, but you can say the same about Flint - Nelson is just Flint with pace. Both will put their bodies on the line but both have the same defects. Neither can bring the ball out of defence to start the transition, and both resort to the upfield punt.

McGuinness is different and a good prospect but still raw and is prone to dropping a bollock as demonstrated by gifting Huddersfield an early goal with his poor backpass to Smithies. At least he can carry the ball forward gettting it and himself up there at the same time - our other CB's (all of them) can only jog up for the set pieces without the ball.

Having made that criticism of our CB's, that is not our biggest problem - it's remained the same for at least 5 seasons, and that's midfield. I'm sure many of us are getting sick and tired of having to repeat the same issue. Until we resolve the dearth of quality at the club to control the middle of the park with football rather than trying to mug the other side with brute force, we will never get out of this division again at the right end.

The quality/skill in the Championship has moved on even since the Warnock days. What we have at the moment is a mediocre mix of mid-table players who should count themselves fortunate to be in the same division next season. Although the signs have been there before, on the evidence of last night in particular, that would apply to Morison as well.
