Cannot see a thread? Just seen the team - Vaulks & Bacuna - not enthused by that but no Pack. Where are Colwill & Davies?
Not to sure if it's the right line up to combat an aggressive Bournemouth outfit. We need to contain an early onslaught but I fear that we'll concede a couple of quick goals before we start to find our feet. Hopefully I'm wide of the mark
At 45 minutes I thought well ok we aren’t out of this game; Bournemouth are in second gear and creating little except a streaky fluke goal and Moore missed two great chances- and that’s with 2 of the worst players in modern City history on the field when one of them gets himself sent off. Bacuna is simply incompetent and should never ever have been picked but our manager decides to start him (and that other incompetent).
Actually missed the red card. Was it justified or was it harsh? The Bournemouth players do seem to be going down easy, but then that's nothing new for a Scott Parker team.
In hindsight even when Bacuna was on the pitch, it made no difference as it was like we had 10 men from the start. Overall we can just bin this game as one of those when everything that could go wrong went wrong in fact we should have gone in at half time 2 up with 11 men but • Morison picked the wrong central midfield •Bournemouth were no danger until a cruel deflected goal • Moore misses 2 very good chances • The ref wrongly sends off Bacuna • They score a second own goal
Don't agree with calling Morison incompetent. He may have made a mistake with selection but even then we were holding our own until the red. Just one of those games where nothing is expected but we're disappointed when that's what we get. Moore could have had us back in it once or twice but thems the breaks.
I didn’t call Morison incompetent rather Bacuna & Vaulks - which they plainly are. I said he erred with his midfield selection which patently at kick off time was wrong which proved to be the case. Bournemouth even at 0-0 when not even breaking sweat had central midfield unopposed. Until and unless CM is sorted we’ll continue to struggle.
I was there last night amongst a very vociferous thousand or so City fans. They sang long and proud last night and carried on after the final whistle. Talking points: Yes it was a bad tackle by Bacuna and warranted the straight red. While he got the ball, he went in from behind two footed with both feet off the ground. It was an easy decision for the ref although he could have been much tougher on the way the Bournemouth players responded. I can see why Bacuna went in as he did they had us 3 on 3 on a break with a 4th player catching up. However there must be much more subtle ways of halting play, obstruct, grab the shirt? Take a yellow? But not what he did. While one down to an unlucky og, Smithies had a weak shot well covered, we were well in the game and could easily have been ahead had Moore taken 2 easy chances. We fell apart second half, our subs were ineffective and we resorted to just hacking the ball clear...... to no one. Until we went down to 10 I thought Vaulks was having a better game. He clearly had a brief to wind up the opposition and was enjoying his task. Billing was his main target and was having some success with him and a couple of others but once a man down, he and Ralls were chasing shadows. Billing ran the game second half. Moore? Missed 2 very scoreable chances which would have changed the game. I know he was battling alone for most of the night but he can't win a header and find a City player to save his life. Cahill and Kelly were backing off and letting him win headers knowing they could pick up the ball from him. He was pretty ineffective. I felt sorry for Davies, getting subbed after coming on as sub but he couldn't get on the ball and had no influence at all. He will get his day again. Despite their win, I didn't think Bournemouth were all that. Yes they were in charge second half but we were down to 10 and had no one who could put their foot on the ball and slow things up. All in all a bad night on the pitch and WBA and Blackburn to come in the next 2 weeks or so. Not looking good.
I cannot see for the life of me why the last few managers have all picked Bacuna pretty much a shoe in for a place in the team, yet every supporter can see how ineffective the player is, he brings nothing to the team at all, we also need to replace Nelson as he is on a par with Bacuna, both of them thieving a wage and valuable oxygen on our beautiful planet !
Disappointed to read of a public criticism of Isaac Davies. The lad has been terrific this season and in particular greatly helped to turn around the Huddersfield & Birmingham games. Morison stated Davies was “more a hindrance than a help.” Shades of Jones’ slamming of Adam Mathews. IMO comments like that should be left in the dressing room. Morison’s halo has slipped since he took over and his personality and displays in press conferences are curious to say the least. Also picking Bacuna to start will require some explanation; he has also publicity criticised him but that’s expected but hasn’t to my knowledge said why he was put on the pitch at the start.
