Bournemouth FFP fine

I admit to not being across all the detail on FFP that some clearly are on here, but just noted that Bournemouth have been find about 7.5 mn for breaching the rules last year. Presumably these breaches helped them into the Premier League and all it provides. Makes the 'brave little Bournemouth' story we are all supposed to swallow stick in the throat.
Isn't is a bit like saying to a bank robber whose just bought a small island in the Caribbean with his ill gotten gains, 'never mind old chap , we admire your enterprise and you can keep the island of course. Just slip us £5 million back and we'll say no more about it?'

Well yeah, different "sport" but same thing applies when Wigan were doing ****e and knowingly - and quite publicly - went way over the salary cap to stay up and then got docked points the year after. How does that work as an incentive to balance the books?

Personally, I don't see the problem - there's nothing ''fair'' about FFP at all; all FFP does is allow the big clubs, with the big grounds and crowds to get richer, it doesn't matter that Bournemouth are backed by a spectacularly wealthy guy, FFP tells them that they're a piddling club with tiny gates and don't dare to dream about the PL.
FFP wants sticking up the arse of the bent **** who devised it ..... bend over Platini!
 
Bournemouth have taken advantage of the lax rules that apply.

Breach of FFP should also be accompanied with points deductions that can be applied in both FA and FL divisions.

FFP in theory is the right thing to do. Football finances were, and largely still are, unsustainable. What do you suggest - the governing body just sit back and ignore widespread financial meltdown?

FFP isn't the answer, it's inherently not fair - if the rules had been stuck to rigidly the established clubs with big grounds would never ever have been caught, they'd just continue getting richer. FFP was great in principle but made no account for the billionaire owners of second rank clubs being allowed to spend THEIR money as they wished. I see your point, but FFP isn't, nor ever was, the answer.

Well yeah that's what I said. In theory it's right, but in its present form the details clearly arent working and need modifying.

It was meant to be rolled out season 2011/12 - it was such a dogs dinner the super wealthy, but smaller clubs, threatened UEFA with court action causing it to be delayed till 2015 (for top tier clubs), it's rules have been watered down so much it really needs tearing up and a new incentive devising.

The season they got promoted, they has a turnover of £13m and a wage bill of £30m.

It's a bit ridiculous to have wages at two and half times turnover and still only incur a £7.5m fine.

Not that we should complain, we did the same.

I thought so long as an owner gave* the money to a club, rather than loaned it, then that money didn't go against FFP rules?

* "Gave" as in a situation of a genuine gift having been given instead of what Allam did.

All they do is like Man City have done,
Stadium sponsor £40 million per year.
Expand stadium and declare it full whether it is or not £££€€€.
Shirt sponsor.$$€€££
Kit supplier €$£
Even sponsor training kits now £££€€€.
Hardly fair play to the majority is it.

In Man City's case it made the fine made little difference, the owner is so rich he just accepted the £49m fine, only the temporary transfer embargo caused them a few problems and even that wasn't a big deal.

Clubs get round the rules. Leicester secured a fantastic deal for some sponsorship linked to either the stadium or shirts can't remember which.

Now been investigated because it seems the company that paid the money has very strong links to the owners.

Yes its all bulshit aint it.
Doesnt Man City owner partly own Etihad Airways so making the Stadium and shirt sponsorship just basically ploughing his own money in???
