i've just re-read the post. Just to confirm, i did not mention anything about support? and besides which, once a fan always a fan. Even as an ex-fan (see David Conn for full understanding of the term), and a follower of some 50 years - many of which as a passholder, i still periodically use my own pass to attend, but i choose my games based on the level of respective entertainment on offer. What is the point in enduring a game where one team enjoys nearly 70% of the game against your own team? I also choose my games based on the level of convenience within the context of the rest my life. Funnily enough, i use the same criteria for Ferriby games i attend.
Look out for my forthcoming biography entitled: "The Psychology of an EX-Football Fanatic"
How can you be an 'ex-fan', but also 'once a fan, always a fan'? You're a fan or you're not aren't you?
Are you being a martyr? Has David Conn started a trend that you wish to follow?
I thought the idea of support was that you support your club whatever the weather? Whether that be scrapping it out on boggy pitches in Division 4, or playing in the Premier League (which I know you hate) because, well, it's your team. I'm sure many fans hated the days in the bottom 2 leagues year after year, but you still do it. I think you should too, no matter that City are in the Prem, and in spite of your opinions on it.
The fact a journalist has taken a publicised stance and labelled himself an 'ex-fan', and there's books coming out about it, makes it whiff of an elitist fad to me. And of course it's unforgivably narcissistic.
