Were "If's" and "Buts" pots and pans we would all be scrap millionaires as Guy Martin said recently(or something similar)

So much conjecture over the value and valuation of this player plus the different scenarios - this is a great thread and I reckon we will re-visit the subject many times, whether he signs for us or not.

Pictures now emerging showing Fabio Borini boarding Liverpool's plane for Boston. #SAFC had previously been told he would not be travelling.

This is a worrying turn of events from the Northern Echo reporter Scott Wilson.

I clicked onto the forum on the left and there is no mention of it.

Doesn't mean I'm right, I just think there could be other reasons for this rather than the player rejecting us.

i just rather naively thought that this would be done and dusted by Monday! If we'd have signed him quickly then i think it would show to any other targets that we mean business! Now I think that all this waiting about might affect our other irons in the fire! Compared to others we have obviously had less time to talk to teams due to our relegation prospects last season, until this morning I thought that we were about to go a long way towards catching other teams up! I just think we can ill afford all of this faffing aboot, but its almost entirely out of our hands i suppose! I'm just frustrated really!

Borini uncertainty...
great start to pre-season

Following mixed reports in the last 24 hours, it is now apparent that despite several well respected Italian Journalists reporting that Fabio Borini has rejected a move to Sunderland after Liverpool accepted a bid from Sunderland, Borini did NOT board the plane with the rest of his Liverpool teammates to their pre-season camp. While this is nothing concrete, it does suggest that he has somewhere else to be. I believe this place to be The Winter Gardens.

On the pitch, Sunderland got off to a great start to their pre-season campaign yesterday with a 5-1 win over Darlington at Heritage Park. Steven Fletcher got himself a brace whilst Emanuele Giaccherini, Connor Wickham and Jordi Gomez also got goals.

Gus Poyet has confirmed that several deadwood players will be off this summer. Hurrah. Poyet said: "I cannot comment on the names, but I think it is obvious that some players will be leaving – and they know who they are. But for the moment they are our players and we respect them. We will make sure they do what they need to do when they are training with us, and as long as they are professional and behave, they will not have a problem being with us. But if we get the players we need, it is going to be difficult for them to play in the next few games. That's for sure. But it's not about being selfish, it's about being professional and getting the best out of the players for the football club."

Poyet also had time to comment ontwo absentees yesterday; Liam Bridcutt and Adam Johnson. There were initial fears that Johnson may be on his way, but Poyet has explained the two are recovering from injuries: "Liam is getting there and we're taking our time with bringing him back. Johnno twisted his ankle on Thursday but it's nothing serious; he could be back on Tuesday or Wednesday."

Erm, photographic evidence would suggest otherwise..

The way I look at it is Borini doesn't want to come. if he did then he would be up here already.

Time to move on & if I was Gus then I would pay Dnipro the 12m they want for Konoplyanka.

Apparently the clubs agreed a deal 2 days ago.

We haven't been able to agree terms with him since then, and he's now hopped on the plane with his team mates.

That tells me quite clearly he's not interested in coming to us, that he sees his future elsewhere.

For me it's time to move on to the next target.

He may be off with Liverpool in case the deal doesn't go through. Even if it does he can still have a medical and sign the paperwork in the US. In fact, we have an American owner who probably could get a few Americans to do the work for us in the US.

If Borini really wanted to come then he would of been up here by now. I hope we don't waste all our summer trying to get Borini to sign for us.

Liverpool fan in peace. I personally can see Borrini going to Sunderland. This is the third preseason Brendan Rodgers has been in charge and each of them he has brought players on tour who had a fee agreed. I dont know why he does but he does.

First season it was Carroll and Adam. Last season Downing. This season Borrini. I think the papers see him boarding a plane and add 2 plus 2 and get 700.

Hopefully ye do get him as I like him but hes obviously not in Brendans reckoning even though he was his very first signing.
