I think if Borini comes it will be a season long loan as I think he still harbours making the Grade at Liverpool, we would have to pay a loan fee, but that may free up Money to pay for another signing, Kalou could be a good buy.

Fabio Borini is ready to quit Liverpool to join Sunderland - but only if he can go on loan.

The Italian striker has been chased by Gus Poyet for weeks after the clubs agreed a staggering £14 million fee.

However Borini has stalled as he does not want to give up on his Kop career, but is now willing to make the switch for the season.

Borini is still top of Poyet's wish list and the decision is now down to Liverpool who were happy to cash in but may have to settle for a much smaller loan fee.

The striker was a hit with Sunderland on a similar basis last season but he prefers to be returning as a loan signing.

Liverpool now have the choice of keeping Borini - well out of the picture and on a big wage - or letting him have his way.

We really need to get Fletcher out of the club and get Borini/another.

With the way Poyet likes us to play he looks totally exposed in his limitations.

That's the consensus of opinion Smug. Get shot of the uninterested Fletcher, replace him with Kalou or Wellbeck and Borini on a season's loan.

The only negative about a season's loan is, if he excels and wants to stay, then providing we have a clause to buy, including an agreed fee and future contract, he potentially could ask for higher wages and his fee could rocket. That said, the loan is the practical option imo.

To be perfectly blunt mate, I don't give a monkey's whether he comes on loan or a permanent deal.

We obviously need a front man of his type and I'll swallow whatever terms he comes on.

If we get a good season out of him, without spending £14 million, it'll give us another year to find a replacement.

If he doesn't come now we have 1 week to find a replacement.

I don't think Borini could ever get into a top 4 team, I think his level is a mid table team which I believe we will be this season.

I can't agree there tbh ..... he's only 23 and scored some great goals, last season, for a very poor side.

Lambert is playing for a top 4 side and I wouldn't put him above Borini.

I feel Gus is trying to step away from this.. Him being the competitive type would rather have fab on a loan for this season then not have him at all. Our last 6/7 seasons based on loans have provided us with enough depth to steer clear of relegation.. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out where SAFC needs to progress in order to achieve a season of success! I respect the manager and owner of our proud club, not sure a lot of other fans of clubs can say the same <ale>

Don't want him to go on loan again...

Think we're all rooting for you to buy him. Was thinking yesterday that with a little more quality up top you'd have beaten United. Borini's technique is suspect but his movement would've caused that back 3 lots of problems.

What does it tell you when Lambert who is a lot older than Borini can get a few games and Borini cant get a look in, Rodgers must feel he dosent fit into the plans for this season, Borini is good but not top class.

Neither is Lambert, my point is that you don't have to be to play for the top 4 ....... Welbeck is another example.

I agree to a point, with Balatelli signing it means Lambert will be limited to League Cup games and coming off the bench if needed, Van Gaal dosent seem to rate Welbeck.
