OK, I'll give them a try next order I put in. I've found Munton's connoisseur are excellent, about £16-£17 per kit, 4.5% alcohol, just as good as the deLuxe kits which are about £5 dearer. I mostly order online, since all the homebrew shops in London have closed.
Cheers <cheers>.

A bloke from North Sussex put me onto Cooper's kits. He's an all grainer but pimps kits up when he can't be bothered .
They were 1.8kg when I started back brewing over a year ago but I think they have sneaked them down to 1.7kg now.
I may be wrong.
But you can't go wrong with the Cooper's and mangrove jacks for the price.
The mangrove jacks ones are about £12.50 with 1kg dextrose on brew2bottle too .

I was making ciders from apple juice too but don't bother now as it give me heartburn :D

Happy brewing penguin ;)

Yes, I used to boil up the malt and hops, even tried the mashing process, but the kits now are so good and so easy you can't go wrong. Been brewing for about 45 years, and I once brewed a special barrel for a Scotland/England game. I invited a few friends round and we'd devoured the whole 5 gallon barrel by the final whistle.

Ah, then I bow to your superior knowledge and experience sir ;).

I know some allgrainers sneer at kits but as you say the end product now is fantastic and far better than in the past.
Since my ultimate aim is to drink a decent pint they're a no brainer for me :).
In fact, when short of lager I bought some Stella in. I was glad to get some home brew bottled again :D

Incidentally, I was too young to brew 45 years ago. I'd of been 9.
Though I did get a taste for my grandads banana wine, rice wine and sherry he used to have bubbling in Demi John's on the hearth around then. <laugh>

It's the nostalgia of that what prompted me to do it about 25 years ago.

I just wish I had his recipe's.
