Such sad news that Whispering Bob Harris is retiring due to continued ill health.

Still listen to his Radio 2 shows to this day and he will be sadly missed. He has introduced me to so may new artists over the years and to new genres. Not sure who would be able to carry the candle forward.

There's not really anybody left on Rad 2 these days

Yes I listen to Tony Blackburn on a Saturday morning sometimes but that's about it
i've downloaded pick of the pops and sounds of the sixties for years and years (and recorded them via a pc dab card before that), but don't get round to listening to them. i tell myself i will one day and they're stored ready. i'm supposedly on a quest to listen to all my cds and vinyl, but it's slowed down lately, there used to be a chap on humberside called henry ayrton that hosted some excellent oldies shows but i discovered him almost at the end of his career. again, recordings await.

Before filming, Dolls frontman David Johansen told presenter Bob Harris he had "bunny teeth"; following the Dolls' vigorous mime through Jet Boy, Harris sniggered into camera and pronounced the band "mock rock"...

Always liked Whispering Bob OGWT and last few years sounds of the seventies on radio 2 .The thing about people like Bob is they experienced the golden years of music and had the great stories to go with 5he music he played. I will say I think Shaun Kearney has done an excellent job of standing in for Bob recently but I will miss Bobs laid back presentation.

If you ever see him on a talk show his stories from the golden years are always interesting.

I listen to Radio 2 far more than I used to.

I know that a lot of people miss some of the presenters who have left, but isn’t that just the order of things? Presenters who were on Radio 1 20/25 years ago are now the faces of Radio 2. Seems like it’s just transitioning to suit Millennials ageing, which probably happened with Gen X and Boomers before.
