I was thinking about all the trouble we had before the new stadium was ready to move into surely brentford will have trouble getting a safety certificate what with fans unable to attend test events because of covid19
I'm sure the posters who were so furious when Poch sacked off the Season Killer Cup (even in the seasons we reached the final or the semis...) are going to be just as infuriated when the ubermensch fields a bunch of reserves and U23 players...
Speak of the devil...Still crying about Poch?
Do you not think there’s a little bit of a difference between that opening bunch of fixtures jam packed with euro qualifiers and sacking it off because you think you’re too good for it?
Ferguson also started off trying to win all the cups. The League Cup was his third trophy with Utd, IIRC.No matter what you think of Jose, Poch and SAF cannot be compared. Easy to not be bothered about the League Cup when you’re winning, well, the league itself, regularly. As well as everything else. Which as good a manager Poch was for us, he didn’t do.
Let's talk about the time The Honest and Humble Saint Harris of Redknapp sent out a team of reserves and youth teamers for a Season Killer Cup NLDIs our recent record in the league cup in recent seasons (under Poch) that much worse than under any other manager or is he just victim of our greater expectation, we reached 1 final and another semi. I don't think we average a semi final every 3 seasons over the history of the tournament. Yes we have lost matches we should have won, but in cup competitions name a team who haven't, I am sure that no manager sends a team out to lose.
Read it mate , picked it up at a car boot sale for £1.50 bargain, it's in my spurs / football collectionTry Hunter Davies's "The Glory Game".
Thanks for that RCL , We rented a cottage in Devon a few years ago and found this on the bookshelf , started to read it one evening and had to return it without finishing itwhen we left , jogged my memory to pick up a copyBest football book I have read is Kicked Into Touch by Fred Eyre.
Well worth a read imo
