So this little nugget appeared in the New York Post's letters page...

Dear John: When will the US understand that the universal sport of soccer cannot exist in our country? It is a poor man’s sport where no equipment is needed, only a ball and a field in which to kick it.

It cannot survive in the US for three reasons: Boring, boring, boring.

The most excitement is among the spectators who burn or stampede the stadiums or kill the goalie or referee — which is where the term “fan” was derived: “Fanatic.”

Seriously, the reasons are:
1) There is not enough “scoring,” i.e., nil, nil.
2) The field is much too large, and even TV can’t cover all of the action.
3) The main reason is that there are no timeouts for commercials — and who wants to watch for three hours and the only goal scored was during a commercial break?

So much for No Child Left Behind...
I've never seen a letter with so many errors before!

There were plenty riding this year's Vuelta who were prominent in the Tour.
Quintana won the Vuelta last year having been 3rd in the Tour (and was in contention to win).

Again, not the TdF WINNERS.

1. Having the current TdF winner in your tour is a big deal
for the race organisers.

2. Riders who are targeting a TdF win arrange their season differently
(pre-requisite miles in legs and races to participate in) to peak for that
race.

As far as I'm concerned the gridiron game has more bugles than at Gettysburg. For What? A man throws a ball to another running!Boring!!!Others try to put him in hospital using their helmets and shoulder pads! Compare Rugby with gridiron where Rugby players don't need to wear that stuff and it is basically body against body.
.....not to mention the game is stopped,it seems, every five minutes for the coaches to tell them what to do.....not to mention half a team runs off while half a team replaces them.BORING! Have I got it about right? IT"S BLOODY BORING! But the hot dogs are nice......

I like this one:-
They call the American gridiron game football when a player throws a ball and catches and runs with it (if he's not killed).
They call our game soccer when the game is played with our feet.
They call the sport, where each man socks one another, boxing.
What do they call the people who work with boxes?

I'm agreeing with you in part.
It's a near impossible task to win both given their proximity now, which makes Froome's achievement all the more remarkable.
But, despite that, it's clear that a number of leading riders have targeted both in recent times.
There are no real comparisons in other sports, although PL football teams might find it equally challenging to win the PL and CL in the same season given the physical demands involved.

I'm not a fan of it, by any means, but it's just another example of Nike's copy and paste kit designs.

They're virtually identical, barring the colour, emblems and sponsors.

Bit of an embarrassment really. At least Under Armor showed some imagination. The imagination of a 7 year old on LSD, true enough, but some imagination nonetheless.

That's the thing about me picking Pro Evo over FIFA: as it involves a lot of kit editing in order to have accurate teams in the game you start to notice how lazy some kit manufacturers are. For example most Nike away kits can be bashed out in a few minutes as the shirt, shorts and socks are all the same colour so once you create one shade you just slap it on everything, while the first thing I noticed about MLS teams is Adidas make the kits for the entire league, and they've got the grand total of three goalkeeping kits for the entire league: black (LA Galaxy, Seattle, Colorado, Philly), light green (Montreal, NYC, Houston, Columbus, Chicago) or light blue (Portland, Toronto, Salt Lake, San Jose, Dallas, DC) - with the exception of the NY Red Bulls, as their kit is exactly the same as all other Red Bull teams (white home strip, dark blue away strip, red GK strip)

Am I the only one who is really pleased with all of our kits? I think Nike (although very much a template) have produced some really nice shirts. The home one is the first one I have bought since we were with Puma, and the away one is probably one of the nicest I can remember.

I don't mind this 3rd kit. It could be far worse. The only complaint I'd have from a practical point of view is that from a distance it wouldn't look to dissimilar to the other navy away one. The yellow branding etc is quite a similar colour to white, and purple isn't to different to navy blue. - what would have possibly been a better idea is having a yellow kit with purple branding to keep all 3 kits very different.

Still, they are all better than the trash under armour produced for us, IMO.

Does anyone use this site on an iPhone?
Anyone else getting a problem with the way it's displaying?
Every time I load a page, the content shifts over to the left, making it only half visible. Down the right hand side there's just a blank column.
I have to turn my phone to landscape, then pack to portrait to make it correct itself. It's bloody irritating.
