They have a long and proud tradition of trying to kill their Presidents and they'd like you to respect it, thank you very much.
My favourite attempt was the one on Andrew Jackson, where the assassin brought two guns along, just to make sure.
Both of them misfired and Jackson proceeded to batter him with his cane!
Jackson was known for duels of honour, so that's probably a good example of an old saying.
To paraphrase, if you strike at a nutty duelist, then you'd better kill him.

Detroit is not a good example, as the social state of that city (deprivation, unemployment etc) is hardly pleasant.

No, it is to the south.
Windsor is south of Detroit River, Detroit to the north. The peninsula Windsor sits on is Canada. The U.S/Canada border curves around that peninsula, following the path of the river.The U.S is therefore to the north, west and south.

I was very surprised when Mr. Murray came out in support of Independence. Have you been to Dumblane? It would fit in very nicely in leafy Surrey. He may well still support Scottish Independence, I'm not sure, but remember the full title of the the Tories; The Conservative & Unionist Party.
Nicola does not need his support btw, she is the one political leader in the UK who has been decisive and knows exactly where she is going AND has the support of the overwhelming majority of the Scottish people.
Mr.Murray was commiserating with the loser so it was natural that Cameron would spring to mind.
If on the other hand Andy Murray is not a Tory I apologise to him for the misrepresentation.
I think that's how you do it; slate someone and then issue the apology all in one go. You get the accusation in but preserve your 'fair minded' approach at the same time.
