I'm all for it too, but in tennis men regularly play 5 hr long 5 set matches and the women are done and dusted in an hour or less. Which is the better value for money for the spectator?
Poor Poch is blaming the size of the pitch for the poor start and performance level. Pull the other one.
This is an exageration. Both men and women play best of 3 sets all year. There are only 4 tournaments where men play more sets (+ Davis cup). Even in 5 sets, men rarely play 5 hours. Federer/Nadal/Djokovic usually despatch their opponents in 2 hours up till the qtr final - so do we dock them pay for that? As others have said it comes down to market forces and tennis is one of very few sports where the womens game is as popular as mens. Men's tennis can be tedious, women's can be more of a spectacle - although it goes in cycles
"Only 4 tournaments" - yes, but they are by far the biggest and most watched 4 tournaments. At Wimbledon check out how the top women breeze into the second week with as much playing time as the top men have in 1 or 2 matches.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29813870 Watching Ed Sheeran should carry a greater punishment. I'm not surprised the others didn't want to go with him .
So he doesn't get reprimanded for being a hopelessly incompetent excuse for a referee, but he does for going to see some drippy singer?
So the BBC have the FA Cup games back this season and the first thing they do is ask Preston fans to travel to Havant and Waterlooville for a Monday night game and Exeter have to travel to Warrington on a Friday evening. When will the TV companies consider the fans ?? Edit- it's BT who are sending Preston to the south coast on a Friday night.
"Now referred to as our "International Technical Coordinator", Steffen is currently trekking the Great Wall of China, to raise funds for the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation life-changing projects." From pals in China : As a PR stunt they painted a 100km section of the wall like a goal net. Steffen kicked the ball at it and still missed.
"Why should there be equality in prize money between men and women in sport? Professional sport is driven by market forces. More money can be handed out to participants when more money is paid in." If women play 5 set matches in "grand slam" tennis tournaments like men do, who would begrudge them prize parity.
Ridiculous, if totally expected. The only problem with picking more sensible fixtures is that the most obvious ones would be derbies and not really suitable for Friday evenings, at least. Preston to Havant is absolutely ludicrous, though. 286 miles and one of the longest possible trips for an English side. Stupid.
please log in to view this image I think that might be him in the background. No idea, actually. Would be nice to have him back, as well as some of the others that have disappeared, like Notso.
Jamie O'Hara has signed for Blackpool. It really has been downhill for him for the past couple of seasons, mostly his own fault I think.
