just read a tweet that apparently our new stadium will be called "The Nike Stadium", with Nike paying for it, in the world's biggest sponsorship deal.

    Really?! <laugh>

    Like.

I have nightmares about it being name "Durex Stadium" on the "Wonga-used-to-be-white-hart-lane stadium" or some bollocks. Nike is very inoffensive, also goddess of victory and from the statues - quite fit.

Slight problem, it'll be referred to as the Pikey Stadium by large numbers of Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham fans.

Oh, do people still call it "Nikey". I know its the correct pronounciation but i though everyone went back to "Nike" after a brief fling with "Nikey"

Having dated a Greek, I can tell you that "Ny-kee" is the proper pronunciation.

Dated a Greek! so I take it you found out how to say it as you used your new trainers to escape from her brothers. <laugh>

Anyway I am married to a Greek and I can tell you that the Greek pronounciation is Neege (using the nearest equivelant English letters.) KneeGee

Well I am a Greek and I say that it's pronounced M'kay, like the teacher's catchphrase in South Park.
Not really, but I wanted to join in the one-upmanship. <nahnah>

I see what you did there.

Are there any sponsors that would be available that would make a handy coincidence?

Nike rhymes with bike, dike, hike, like, spike and strike. And that's the poetry lesson of the day.

Greek, the language where their version of yes sounds like no, and their version of no sounds like okay. No wonder their economy is ****ed...
