South Tyneside to Rothbury, Otterburn, Carter Bar, Selkirk then along St Mary's Loch to Moffat. Tried most of the bikes I've had on the route but didn't get there this year, hopefully next year. Got a new Monster 1100 Evo to try out in the spring

I've been enjoying the country roads on my new hair dryer like. Not been on the road long so not ventured far but country roads are a joy to ride.[/QUOTE]
Enjoy whatever youve got mate, just get out on the road wherever

That's one helluva adventure mate and a nice bike

There are some fabulous local cycle tracks around Sunderland, but my favourite ride is the C2C from Workington or Whitehaven to Roker.. I have done this ride about six times and it is a real challenge and some great scenery as well.

When I was up last in the summer I ran quite a bit around the coast south of Sunderland and there were loads of well surfaced ex-railway tracks (assuming from the mines). You guys are lucky to have these well preserved - were great to run on and I imagine cycle on (not on a road bike obvs)

My best ride there was on a Ducati 748, which was magic but you had to ride it balls out or it was unforgiving. Sometimes I want to just pootle along at 80 ish and the 748 was awful....belonged on the track I think. One of my rides on it when not in the groove was round Kielder and a guy in an Escort van was keeping up with me lol. The Evo is great but it needs sprocket reduction on front, and an ECU remap. Jobs for the winter along with maybe fork and shock upgrades.

You're completely different to me mate I do just tootle around about 60, I'm not a speed merchant and even though I love the ducati's styling and engines I prefer my sport adventurers. Tried a few gsxf 10 years ago, the original slabby but since Im getting a bit older I prefer sitting a bit more upright

I know what you mean, I'm chasing 70 and don't need the speed now. That's the point of the Monster, being unfaired and uncomfortable at high speeds so naturally limiting
