I like Long and I think he'd be a great addition, but £7m?
We just had out pants pulled down.
Thats the January window for you!

I would normally be buzzing about two new strikers. It feels as though it's not my club so it doesn't make me excited.
I'm also concerned about overspending, I always wondered back in 2008/09 where all the money was coming from but was swept up in the moment just like everyone else. If it was my business I don't think my staff would be happy in me spending money I said I didn't have with the possibility of me walking away in a few weeks.
I see West Brom offered him an improved contract twice and he declined.
Maybe they weren't guaranteeing him first team football and that is what he wants.
The point I'm trying to make, is that if AA walks who pays the wages? It seems very contradictory that he is committing the club to very large deals when, if he keeps his word, he may walk away in a few weeks time. The difference being in 2008/09 Browny and Duffen bought players looking for a last big pay day. Bruce is getting quality that will keep us up

It's a fee rising to 7m. I don't get why people are stressed when Jelavic and Long both have clauses that raise the fee if we stay up. Smart business, because if we stay up then an extra mil or two for them is nothing, considering we won't need to sign many next Summer.
We play Everton last game of the season.
Say, hypothetically we are in a relegation battle, and Everton have nothing to play for... a loss gives them an extra couple of £Million... just saying...

West Brom's sporting director Richard Garlick revealed the decision to accept an offer from Hull City for Shane Long was made after the striker failed to agree terms over a new long-term contract.
Shane effectively only has 18 months left on his deal and with him no closer to accepting our terms and then Hull making an acceptable offer, we felt it was in the club's best interests to accept the bid.
He declined a new contract twice, which says one of two things.
a) We offered him a better deal back in the summer.
or
b) They aren't offering him a guaranteed place in the first team whereas we are.
It could easily be both.
