It's a fee rising to 7m. I don't get why people are stressed when Jelavic and Long both have clauses that raise the fee if we stay up. Smart business, because if we stay up then an extra mil or two for them is nothing, considering we won't need to sign many next Summer.
The difference being in 2008/09 Browny and Duffen bought players looking for a last big pay day. Bruce is getting quality that will keep us up
Yep that makes me feel a bit better, that he turned down contract offers there, shows he wasn't hugely keen to stay.
The point I'm trying to make, is that if AA walks who pays the wages? It seems very contradictory that he is committing the club to very large deals when, if he keeps his word, he may walk away in a few weeks time.
We play Everton last game of the season.
Say, hypothetically we are in a relegation battle, and Everton have nothing to play for... a loss gives them an extra couple of £Million... just saying...
And gives us another year in the PL.. I would soo hate them throwing that match to let us stay up.

Shane effectively only has 18 months left on his deal and with him no closer to accepting our terms and then Hull making an acceptable offer, we felt it was in the club's best interests to accept the bid.

He declined a new contract twice, which says one of two things.
a) We offered him a better deal back in the summer.
or
b) They aren't offering him a guaranteed place in the first team whereas we are.
It could easily be both.

Agree Macca, but I wonder if he's also talking to another club. I heard Newcastle were sticking their oar in at some point. I'll feel better if and when the deal gets done...
I'm hoping what the Daily Mail is saying about the wages is wide of the mark.

We've moved on Hobbs, Cairney, McClean & Stewart. From that lot we must have money coming back in. That needs to be allowed for when discussing how much we've spent.
Or
C) they offered him a **** deal, but in doing so ensured they could maximise their asking price.
