I don't remember saying he was a class player but you are very good at putting words in peoples' mouths, aren't you nolhman? If I had a choice between Owen and Berbatov one on one with the keeper in a big match, I definitely wouldn't choose the Bulgarian bottler though.
I'm in a minority in not thinking he's up to it but thankfully that minority also seems to include Sir Alex Ferguson. He'll never have to pay for another pint when in the company of City fans after his performance in that semi final.
People often forget about the experience and advice a player like Owen can bring to the training pitch and bench. Who do Suárez and Carroll look to for advice on the training pitch after their manager, Ngog?

Merry, don't worry, Berbs will get his far share of games next season but haters will be haters and Ferguson does not agree with your opinion in any shape or form. Also Berba scored the most winning goals for us last season which is quite fantastic for a bottler.

Merry, I watch football to enjoy it. This is why I like football. I often watch Barca because they are entertaining and I sometimes even watch Arsenal. Berbatov is a fantastic player to watch and so is Nani. If fans were in charge, those 2 would be removed and heaven forbid even Ronaldo in his early days. Berbatov is thankfully staying and it gives us another dimension and is a player I love to watch. Flair, skill, beauty and the way he brings the ball out of the air makes my mouth water. I am not a fan of players with poor overall games e.g Chica but I can understand his importance because he is the definition of efficiency. However, I don't watch football to see only efficiency. Teams like Real and Barca don't accept efficiency as the only important factor. Skill and enjoyment is also imperative and if they are not part of the package, they often sack those managers.
Berbatov slows down United's attacks by fannying about with the ball for 5 or 6 seconds before laying it off to a team mate who is 3 yards away from him. This is not exciting or entertaining imo. And for a player who is praised for his vision, he doesn't often play defence splitting passes does he? To see him compared to the wonderful Bergkamp really does make me shudder.
You don't have to attack with speed to play enjoyable football. Barca hardly attack with speed and they play the best football on earth. Spain hardly attack with speed do they. Where has the speed crap come from? Fast football does not = entertaining football. Slow build up play with short passing and flair is so much better than fast long ball crap. I did not say anything about Berkamp.
I don't see the attraction with 100 mph football. It is so much better to keep the ball and pass it around using short passing and having strikers like Berbatov with great touches and ability of gliding past players. I like Berbatov, I did not say you have to. I don't like fast football and I prefer slow build up, that is my opinion.

They don't do anything but score goals in 1 in 2 games and during 90 mins, they often lose the ball so many times. Against Arsenal and Barca, Hernandez did not touch the ball at all and it only bounced of his feet a few times. Players like Berba are better suited to playing against technical teams as they have technique. Hernandez does not have natural skill or technique. Good scorer but that is all sadly.

Have you watched Barca play? Most of their goals come through quick, incisive passing. Xavi and Iniesta don't hold the ball unnecessarily for 5 or 6 seconds as it allows teams to organise defensively. They pass the ball until they can work an opening. Then they spring. Berbatov, well, isn't capable of playing in this manner and never will be.
yes I do watch Barca and they keep the ball, they build up slowly and then finish with a bang. We get the ball and hoof it up top or to the wingers, far too quickly mostly because we play 442 when we should be playing 433. They also have forwards who ALL have amazing overall games. A player like Chica would not be able to play for them. He simply can't dribble or go past players or pass the ball. I am sorry but this is true. Villa is a goal scorer but he often drifts from left to central just like Messi and Pedro.
I never said Chicharito would get in the Barca team but the bottler dam sure wouldn't. Ibrahimovic is a similar but better player than Berbatov and he didn't fit in at Barca.
Chica dam sure would not make their squad. The likes of Afellay, Jeffren and Bojan are better players. Shame Bojan is leaving but they all have very good overall games. Chica could not play for them.

See nothing to say. You always criticize people for saying Berbatov is a good player and label them a fan boy lol. But he is a very good player and I am happy he is staying. Having just Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck and Owen as our strikers would be very worrying as only Rooney is class out of those. Keeping our top goal scorer from last season is imperative and it is very good news.
Keeping Berbatov gives us options up front hat the rest of our strikers can't. Chicharito, no matter how good his finishing is, can't hold a ball up to save his life, he's not that sort of player. Dims has the brain and control to know when to wind down the clock.
If there is an opportunity to criticize Berbs, Merry will be there. He would rather Owen than Berbs, which tells you about his hatred. I am sorry but Owen is long past it in my opinion. A player living off his reputation of yesteryear and a player who is far too injury prone.
