Had some pork scratching, it was like chowing iron benkers.


Benkers, a highly undervalued and underused word, virtually lost forever.




Another, i used earlier today 'chod'. Can be used in a variety of ways. As long ad you are meaning ****e.

I used to get massive benkers off me uncle who worked down the yards, then i'd flog them at school <laugh>
 
As in spit, what about Gadget and Ganseys, does anybody say they wear a Gansey these days.
Yes quite often ,we have a huge collection of them in our town museum along with the biggest collection of lifeboats in europe, every fishing town had its own pattern knitted in the gansey ,so if lost at sea the body if found could be linked by the pattern .

You've pinched that from Fairisle knitting as all the Scots islands do the same which of course won't apply when that owld witch Sturgeon gets her own way.
PS I didn't realise that it applied to the fishing industry in the north as well, that's when we had one that is.
