Well yeah, there's no other way.

It doesn't mean everyone who's charged is automatically found guilty ...

... nor does being a PL football player automatically mean you're innocent.
Agree on both counts. There has to be something in what has been found already to make it worthwhile, but of course he is absolutely innocent until proven guilty.

He was at court today, he was also charged with breaching his bail conditions from the 3 alleged rapes from October, by allegedly raping for a 4th time this week. Surely he should have been remanded in October

I know that's the generally accepted legal definition but there's a twist.

Almost anyone who commits a crime is instantly guilty ...

... but, as you say, our system demands it's proven in the eyes of a court.

And of course there's a difference between innocent and not guilty.

Personally I think this bloke is as 'guilty as hell' which isn't strictly a legal term <laugh>

Innocent until proven guilty is a bit of a difficult concept for me.

Whether a court finds him guilty or innocent obviously has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on whether he is actually guilty or indeed innocent.

Makes it feel like his innocence/guilt is more tied to whether some irrelevant arsehole on the jury is having a particularly bad day than to whether he actually did it or not.

It's all a bit Schrodinger's cat.

Is that true? If so, someone has dropped a bollock by releasing him on bail the first time round, or perhaps the first 3 weren't as clear cut?

Widely reported in the press, one of his bail conditions was he wasn't allowed to hold social gatherings (parties) which he breached when the alleged 4th one took place. He obviously has a party and invites loads of females and then thinks he had the pick of them and can do what he wants to them as they have turned up. Sounds a total tool.

He’ll feel a total tool in a few months time <laugh>

MANCHESTER City star Benjamin Mendy will go on trial next year accused of rape and sexual assault against three different women.

The left-back, 27, is charged with raping a woman three times at his home in October last year.

Banged up over Christmas and a trial pencilled in for January 24th.

Absolutely mental. Not looking good for him at all.

I forgot about this little gem of a story on this:

RAPE charge footballer Benjamin Mendy had a meltdown in prison — after mistakenly believing he was going to be locked up on a VIP wing for celebrities and sports stars.

Mendy, 27, was transported to tough HMP Altcourse on Friday after appearing in court charged with four counts of rape and one of sexual assault.

When he arrived at the Category B jail in Liverpool he was told he was going to be put on the VP wing.

It is to keep vulnerable prisoners, including sex offender suspects, away from the main prison population.

But 2018 World Cup winner Mendy misunderstood prison staff and thought he was going to the VIP wing.

The source said: “When Mendy arrived staff explained he was going to be kept on the VP wing for his own safety.

But perhaps because he is French and his English isn’t great, he misunderstood what they had said and thought he was being taken to a VIP wing for celebrities.

He had a rude awakening when he saw the cell and realised who he was going to be mixing with.

He wasn’t happy and it was a very sobering experience for him."

I was once locked up and thought I was being rehabilitated when they showed me to a room that said Therapist ...

... my heart sank when I looked closer and noticed a space between the e and the r <doh>

There is no way on earth he should have been granted bail, especially when one of the charges is for assaulting someone while he was on bail the first time.

Ridiculous getting bail, as others have said had bail once and went out and did the same.

Was it Mendy who we nearly signed after Ellis flew him over on his private jet, only for him to change his mind last minute and go elsewhere?
