Mustn't assume they aren't all giving to their own charities....most clubs are involved with local charities. I'm sure they contributed to Benali, but may not be their top priority.

Let's hope so. It was just that the figure he had already made on the first day was remarkably similar to the end figure for his original adventure. A figure I would suggest was, frankly, paltry given the cause and the amount of effort he put into it. Sadly, that original adventure went largely unnoticed, in my opinion. I'm hoping he learned from that and realised that people may cheer him on, or call him a fantastic bloke, but getting them to put their hands in their pockets, for as little as a fiver, is another thing entirely. This needs proper coverage. BBC Sport, merely calling him a 'former footballer', didn't do justice to him at all. Local Hero or Local Legend would have been far more accurate.
