From the Official website; Manager Karl Robinson has confirmed that centre-back Jason Pearce is set to miss the next eight to 10 weeks with a knee ligament injury. The no-nonsense defender was injured in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bury and, despite completing the match, scans have revealed that he will have to spend time on the sidelines. Robinson said: “It’s a similar injury to Mark Marshall’s but not to the same level. It’s a big loss for everybody. He’s been one of our best players this season – he’s a true leader and he brings so much both on and off the pitch. But it is an area with the likes of Ez [Konsa], Naby [Sarr] and Harry Lennon, when he’s back fit, that can step in.” More positively, the boss also revealed that Ben Reeves and Mark Marshall are closing in on a return to action. “They’ve both trained today and they will both definitely be in the squad for Saturday,” he explained. There we have it, direct quote from our manager. Ben Reeves and Mark Marshall will definitely be in the squad for Saturday. Presumably they will be substitutes for the Fleetwood game.
Under pressure interim Charlton manager Karl Robinson unusually resorted to desperate bluster last night, stating after the Walsall draw that Reeves & Marshall will definitely play a part at Fleetwood on Saturday.
It would appear Charlton's policy regarding knee injuries during a game is to keep the player in question on the pitch until either A) he actually collapses. B) Full time.
How ironic that Marshall picks up a bad injury in a pre-season match yet he may still return to the first team before Reeves whose injury was that he missed his pre-season training and then made an unnecessary brief appearance at Exeter in what was a nothing game Reeves is obviously starting as he means to go on. Charlton's new 'Sicknote'
Just like after the embarrassing January transfer window, when he said that in the summer he was definitely going to build a squad with quality backups in all positions, and FOUR strikers in the squad. #Bollocks
And that is my problema with Robinson in a nutshell. He talks a lot, explains how great everything is, to a bunch of fans who aren't the cildren he thinks we are. Then when the problems arise, he forgets what he said and offers an equally risible discourse. I don't dislike him and maybe with backing he could win this league with us. But when the owner doesn't back him, he pretends that he does, and sets himself up for weeks like these when we can all see the bench has nothing viable to turn things around, Then he thinks we'll believe t will all be put right in january when the previous january and summer he had chances to do so but didn't. Besides which, clubs with good players will expect to be paid to let said players go, and RD clearly doesn't want to spend any money on transfers. Basically, Robinson has been stitched up. He knew it when the transfer window closed and opted to be a good boy and tow the party line. But he forgets he promised a decent squad in the summer so saying he will fix our ills in january is for the kiddies to hear. And Dodoo wll be tied round his neck like an albatross till then.
Robinson is a classic case of “empty vessels make the most sound”. Talking of which, perennial try hard Ben Hayes has invited him along to Bromley Addicks - no doubt his regular advice to KR to shut up & win games will morph on the night to “can I buy you a pint Karlo?”
I will give anyone attending the Q&A £20 if they ask Robinson the following question - “Karl, do you believe even half of the rubbish that comes out of your mouth?”
The meeting is in Petts Wood, at the British Legion where you can get an excellent pint for £2:70. Ben Hayes and you would get on like a house on fire.
Why would anyone waste three hours listening to Robinson's BS ? Just for info "Ronnie" - remember the famous meeting with Mike Norris and the Directors at the old Valley Club in the 80s - I was there that night. I don't remember seeing you there, sitting on your booster seat? That was a real meeting midge
