Of course I have! I have mate who lives on Belvoir st. I've been there a few times and both years I've done the city of ale as a stomach liner for the day. Good but no chip inn! Also had a pint in the Alex whilst waiting!<cheers>
you can get a pint in the Swan whilst you're waiting in LS too!<cheers>

Bah!

MSN did a survey of the 65 best chippies in the UK, the only Norfolk chippy was the Grosvenor in Norwich!
I know Dave, but most people I know don't rate it and prefer the one on Stafford St. I guarantee if I go along there this evening around 6.30-7pm, the queue will be out of the door.

MSN no doubt have to select from all around the country and in particular where their readers are from. Clearly the top 65 would really comprise of the 65 best in Norfolk. It's this rest of the country centric sort of nonsense we're all used to. It'd never of happened under Bodica's watch!

By the way, im sure the Grosvenor got the token Norfolk vote because it's ponced itself up a bit and offers little portions of squid and stuff. Chip inn (and the Stafford st one, just for you JM) Would batter it for a simple Haddock and chips!

I've had haddock and chips at all three and Grosvenor is most certainly a distant 3rd in my book.

Bah!

Your last paragraph says it all for me General and I know the EDP have run a poll of chippies and I've yet to find anyone who rates the Grosvenor!!! <doh>

My great aunt Nelly Springford started me on the road to light and bitter when I was 13 years old!

Those sites are really interesting. I grew up in Newton St Faiths, and there was only one pub, which closed before I was old enough to drink (although I notice the Crown Garage was also once a pub <yikes>).

It closed for being uneconomic. 42 barrels in 1961? Give me a couple of years, I'd have done that on my own! <cheers>

At the Beer Festival last night, one cask of a Cherry flavoured Belgian beer of 30 litres (just over 6 gallons) lasted 45 minutes. There were several other draught beers and bottles being sold at the same time. <cheers>

Just been out with my son for a few beers and a bite to eat at the Wig and Pen.
I don't know for how long they're doing the offer, but tonight they were offering roast beef, Yorkshires, roast potatoes (PROPER ones), veg and a pint of beer for £10 and very nice it was too - [HASHTAG]#bargain[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#stuffed[/HASHTAG]

I walked past the Grosvenor Chip Bar just before 6pm last night and I couldn't believe how long the queue was.
Haven't they heard of the Chip Inn or are they willing to accept an inferior product??????
