My two favourite steak sauces. Peppercorn and Blue Cheese.
If there is no blue cheese sauce available then I'm quite partial to a steak au poivre

My oath, how dull can you get. We're not using ration books any longer -Sunday dinner should be roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, peas and carrots with proper gravy, not jus.
Weekday meals should be plain and simple, something like fish, chips and mushy peas or bangers and mash.

(though you make it sound like you still are?). What about all the influences
of Mediterranean cooking from when people go abroad on holiday, what's wrong
with incorporating some of those to liven up that typical English blandness?
(Substitute parsnips and sprouts for peas and carrots and I'll take the roast anytime)

100% agreeIt was sort of tongue in cheek, what really pisses me off is when they paint about five different sauces on a plate, add three peas and a carrot julienne and call it lunch

What's wrong with a lasagne, chilli con carne??
Better still roast pork - though I don't get some restaurants dishing up a lump of roast belly pork approx 5cm cubed, adding a dollop of mash with a smattering of veg and charge you approx £12 for the privilege.
Whilst I'm on my 'high horse' - WHY des nearly every restaurant only give you a smattering of veg??? I know a lot of people don't eat much veg, but for the price of it!!!![]()

Oooohoooo… "Mushroom rice"?!I love a beef lasagne, but chill con carne is too spicy for me, I have a delicate stomach that reacts to spicy food though I can manage a Madras with mushroom rice![]()

Sign of a misspent youth... too much time in Royboy's café.Nothing wrong with tomato ketchup and gravy (thick) to add a touch of flavour and class to anything
A lot of people like it and it's OK, but my preference is No 1 and is owned by Dalton Blackstone.Just seen Mary Jane's chippie of Cromer mentioned on twitter.
Any good?

I ONLY get takeaway!!!And you thought the Cottage was expensive![]()

Easy to see whyI ONLY get takeaway!!!

It has a standard menu of cod or haddock and chips at £12.45,
which is what passes for reasonable in these parts.
I'd expect Dalton himself to be cooking it for that price!!!!Easy to see why
