Just goes to show that these things are very subjective, thornham top 6 in the country but 9th in the region, that and they are just plain wrong. Chip Inn = best Bah!
Chip Inn has obviously been resting on its corals. We knew somewhere better would come along tuna or later.
Not been to Chip InN for a long, long time. But since Moving to Wymondham. Big Fry, always perfect! We have never had a bad or greasy meal. Cod is big, crispy and tasty, and always great chips. I'd love to do a taste test between the 2. Been so long, I can't remember the taste of Long Stratton's. Big fry (although a chain type, so I was unsure myself) they really know how to cook fish and chips. We adore it, and try and save it as a treat every now and again.
I agree FML and I think it would be good to do a taste test between the Chip Inn, Big Fry, Stafford Street and the (one that SOOOO many people rave about) the Grosvenor. Changing topic slightly - Off out with a couple of mates (YES, I've got some!!!) to the Plasterers tomorrow evening to get 'plastered!!'
I could always come down as well and I believe the Cross Keys had been refurbished, or we could 'slum it's in the Green Dragon!!!
Wymondham is Skank, the new Thetford full of London overspill give it a miss if you know what’s good for you #chavsrus dualling the A11 has f@ucked Norfolk big time IMO
I used to live at Spooner Row back in the early 80's and my regular was the Queens Head in Wymondham. Drove through Spooner Row the other day just to have a look, hard to find my old cottage, now surrounded by housing estates!
Introduced a couple of friends to the Plasterers Arms last night and they were very impressed with both the selection of beers and the pizza!!
Oddly, I have a friend who used to live in Wymondham and he always used the Boars at Spooner Row as a local. Maybe a good chance to give his dog a decent walk, I don't know.
How apt!! A beer & chips thread and news of a Norwich pub morphing into a burger restaurant (which sells chips, naturally). Good grief, when I lived near the old N&N hospital on Wessex St, the Lillie Langtry was my local for a decade or more. On a Sunday lunchtime, they used to put bowls of hot Morston mussels on the bar, poached in cider - deee-lish Adios Lillie, welcome Craft Burger. http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/new-burger-restaurant-for-unthank-road-in-norwich-1-5281185
Looks good I'll have to give that a go next year. In the big shopping complex in Bristol there is a restaurant called the Gourmet Burger, they do a fantastic beef and blue Stilton burger to die for with really tasty chips, I must go to Bristol very soon. Yummy
I remember the Boars head! A huge barn of a place that always did good food, but it was always cold inside I remember having to keep my coat on eating there in the winter!
I think in recent years, it's been tried as a pub on several occasions, but definitely not one I frequented on more than a handful of occasions.
