The official Off-Topic Chat Thread now known as "Beefy's Corner".

Firstly, the normal rules of the site apply. You cannot start a discussion about contentious issues, Politics, Religion, or show Porn, etc... The flip side of this arrangement is that there will be a much stricter enforcement of the "no going off topic" rule which has always been the case anyway, on the other threads.

Secondly, the normal rules of the Saints board will apply, (except that you can go off-topic obviously). This is not going to become a "private GC Lite." Personal insults will not be tolerated, and neither will goading someone to draw them out. The whole tone of this board has suffered in the past as differing views have been aired and there have been far too many angry exchanges. Vitriolic exchanges are not welcome and will be dealt with as appropriate. If you have fallen out with a poster put him on your ignore list and don't rise to the bait!
If you see content which is not appropriate, please send the mods a PM rather than fronting up the poster and let us deal with it to save a bun-fight. Lastly, if a thread is closed or deleted by one of the Mods, and you have some good reason that it should reopen, then send us a PM with your reasons. Simply re-posting the same thread again to be confrontational would be considered very provocative and would probably lead to action being taken.

It would seem that large numbers of posts and subjects causes problems for mobile phone users to access this site. So from time to time it will be necessary to close the threads down and start a new one.

Beefy robbed of a win that would tie him with Joe by a surge from first time entrant, and winner, Mr_Saintly. DTLW's shameless bullshit spamming puts him ahead of Joe, who fails to place for only the 6th time (I think). Not that he'll mind, as the new Goal Difference rule picks him up a new half a point, stolen from Tom.

Rafael Nadal beats Novak Djokovic in four sets: 6-2 3-6 6-4 6-1 to win the US Open.

That's Rafa's 2nd US Open win and his 13th Grand Slam title. Impressive. Well Done.

Touched on it in the last Beefy's: "Blackout" on C4 was very thought provoking last night. It was a good program. Rich saw it. Anyone else?

Good review of Blackout here, you will all like the Pompey reference! :emoticon-0116-evilg

"...This is a cyber attack on our entire national grid; the country grinds to a halt for a week. Traffic lights fail – Cricklewood Broadway is honking mayhem, which actually is exactly how it always is; likewise, the floodlights go out at Fratton Park, making zero difference to the way Portsmouth play their football; petrol pumps can't pump petrol; CCTV cameras stop working; hospitals switch to their generators; and the London Eye stops turning."

It's good to see Rafa winning again. Just what he needed after the last year or so.

The guardian is biased pretentious crap anyway. Plus it wouldn't make a difference as sunset isn't until after games finish so they wouldn't be used anyway

is it just me or are we seeing more and more managers being penalized for conduct and comments regarding refereeing? Perhaps I didn't take much notice before. Does this reflect a genuine bias in officials judgement, sour grapes and a lack of decorum from managers, or a bit of both?

I think managers are quite happy to have an unneccesary moan at the officials sometimes, so I think a lot of the time the fine is justified.

I didn't watch Blackout. I watched the latest Breaking Bad episode. It probably was the best episode of the season, great ending.

Florian Marange, a new signing for Crystal Palace, is angry to find that he isn't in the named squad. Says he wouldn't have come if he knew he wouldn't play...now says he will move in January. Does have a point....you might assume you would be in the squad if signed (unless signed for the future as an Academy player).
