There's still no certainty it's actually him, but the Gary in question was on a quiz show, where four contestants build a pot by individually beating a quizmaster. The quizmaster will offer them each three choices, to compete for the money they've won, a higher offer, with less head start, or a safer, lower offer. The winnings are combined for a final round where they team up, and if they beat the quizmaster, they get an equal share of the pot. If they don't beat the quizmaster, they go home with nothing.

The first contestant contributed £11,000. Gary opted for minus £5,000, rather than the £6,000 he'd won, so that he was more likely to get back and effectively steal a share of the other peoples money.

survival of the fittest ain't it

i'd of done the same

Accepting the minus offer is bad enough – proper ****’s trick – but the fact that BCC always bangs on about how clever he is, or how he did great on 15-1 etc. he’s really put himself in prick’s window.

The Chase is hardly University Challenge so someone of his own self-professed talents should have at least taken the mid offer.

So, 5k to make yourself look like a total **** on TV…

Nah. Not that desperate.

Can I presume that if he hadn't taken the easier option they all could have got less or even no money? It's a show I know nowt about.

No the other three were guaranteedat least £8300 each, until bummers cheaped out and effectively stole their money.

He's the kind of prick who doesn't mind turning a blind eye to charging children and toddlers adults prices so he can get a cheaper ticket.
