If he goes and Valencia come in for Col with the money they have recieved for Mata we could be in bother again.

If we stay with the squad we have and close the Pieters and Maiga deals then i will believe this is a good transfer window for us. If we fail on the LB and striker, it will be a bad window. Fail on the Lb, striker, lose Barton and Col with no replacements..... uh oh.

Im not having a go at anyone directly here but it seems a lot of people are starting to do 'that thing' where people start to claim it wouldnt be such a bad thing if he left and that hes a liability now just because it looks like hes leaving... i will be devastated if he goes hes a brilliant player will a brilliant heart, not many other players put there all into every game in my opinion.

Can you name another player who has nigh broke someone's leg with a horrific terrible challenge, punched a player and picked another player by the neck? DeJong withstanding.
Not saying Barton is an out and out thug but there's definitely anger management issues. Just saying.

<laugh>

Nearly broke a leg? Please that challenge wasn't that bad. It was clumsy to do it but he actually won the ball and barely touched Alonso, was only his back leg that just caught him.

Punched a player? That was stupid and he knows that as much as anyone.

Picked another player up by the neck? I must have missed this... I thought you were on about Gervinho but lifting someone up by the shirt is a bit different to picking someone up by the neck. You see this pretty much every week, never heard anyone other than Barton have it made as a big incident.

Lose Barton and it's a joke. He is still one of our best players. Was outstanding on Saturday and against Arsenal. His work rate is phenomenal, his deliveries aren't the best so far this season. His passing is superb. He has a quality footballing brain. His commitment to the cause is second to none.

He was ****ing woeful against Arsenal and wasnt anything special against the mackems.

Having said that I think hes going to be a HUGE miss and after a great weekend I now feel sad about the club and season.

Cheers again Mike.

The BBC have said
"Newcastle reiterated that Barton was always available for transfer and would not require permission to speak to clubs but the BBC understands QPR contacted the Magpies out of courtesy."

So nothing has changed, QPR have shown an interest and contacted NUFC out of politness.

As for him leaving other than gaining a longer contract he won't gain anything else, can't see them paying daft wages and no offence to QPR but hardly a glittering career move.

And as for big clubs coming for him, it's the balance of Great player over Liability when you look at his twitter antics and the Arsenal game. Plus he is massivly under the spot light for everything he does.

I think it's interest show and yet to see if Barton wants to talk to them.

I wouldn't be surprised if Barton goes and talks to them, does the tour etc. get's everyones hopes up then goes "Nah not interested" just to piss the board off. That is the kind of character I see him as.

"davidsedgwickNE David Sedgwick
@
@nufcfans Joey Barton is currently on the same train as me heading to London. Might go and plead with him to stay at #NUFC"

Hmmm. But the boy is tweeting that he is listening to The Book Club. Suppose it could be on his Ipod. Interesting. Someone tweet this fella to get a picture.

This really. I was surprised to see some people saying how well he played against Arsenal, he made at least 2 memorably terrible passes and didn't put in the sort of game he usually would.
Still a really great player though, want him to stay for that reason.

I might go stand on platform 3 at York station. Look into the 1st class carriages. And confirm whether this is true haa. Im 5 minutes away from it haha
